Celebrating Our Clients

We had a great SBDC Day last Wednesday! In case you missed it see below for our 2018 statistics and some of our client's stories.
Client Success: Purchasing an Existing Business
Carpet One of Redding

Business Woman Seeks Ownership:
Mrs. Dapkewicz came to the SBDC for help when she was looking at purchasing the business "Carpet One of Redding" from her parents. She was obviously familiar with this company that sells and installs flooring and accessories such as carpet, tile, hardwood, area rugs, and window treatments. In fact she had been working for "Carpet One" for several years. But even with her connections and expertise about the business, she knew that she would need help to obtain the large amount of capital she needed to buy the business (over 1 million).

How the SBDC (Small Business Development Center) Helped:
Mrs. Dapkewicz met with the Shasta-Cascade SBDC's loan specialist Joe Rodola at the end of 2017 to get help on her loan process for purchasing the existing business. They went over Amy's current situation, helped her create a two year financial forecast for the loan application, assisted her with her business plan, and then Joe continued to assist her in the long process to get her large loans approved. In April Amy had all her paperwork ready for the initial application for the loans. After working on all the conditions for loan approval, she received the approval for the final piece of the loans in August of 2018.
Success in Large Numbers:
These loans were a combined 1.2 Million from Tri-Counties and the SBA to cover the costs of purchasing the business. Not only did she continue the legacy of her parents in the ownership of the company but she was also able to utilize some of the original employees for a total of 4 full-time and 6 part-time employees. That's excellent news for Amy and the Redding economy.

"Thanks to Joe and the time we took together to do the two years projections and business plan, we were able to get the loan processed through Tri-Counties. It took a lot longer than we anticipated, but you hung in with us and made the journey bearable. Thanks again for all of your help."  -Amy Dapkewicz
