FAMILY LAW DIVISION ANNOUNCES COURTROOM HEARING CHANGES
  
The Central Family Law Division at Los Angeles Superior Court, Stanley Mosk Courthouse, 111 N. Hill St., Los Angeles, announces the following changes to courtroom operations:

Effective April 2, 2019, Departments 2B, 2C and 6 will become independent calendar courtrooms. New petition filings (i.e., petitions for dissolution, legal separation, nullity, parentage, etc.), will be randomly assigned to these departments commencing February 20, 2019. 

Effective April 2, 2019, all requests for temporary restraining orders will be randomly assigned to an independent calendar courtroom for ruling and scheduling of the evidentiary hearing. Requests for temporary restraining orders should continue to be submitted to the Restraining Order Center for initial processing. This includes all new requests for temporary restraining orders and requests where there is an existing active family law case. 

Effective April 23, 2019, fee waiver hearings, family-centered case resolution conferences set per CRC 5.83 and post-judgment hearings (i.e., judgment debtor examinations and hearings on claims of exemption), will he heard in the independent calendar courtroom to which the case has been assigned.

Effective April 23, 2019, all cases currently assigned to Commissioner Laura Hymowitz and calendared on or after April 23, 2019, in Department 2C, will be reassigned to Commissioner Laura Cohen in Department 2C and shall remain as scheduled on the dates and times previously set, unless otherwise notified. Commissioner Laura Hymowitz will be reassigned to the Restraining Order Center. 

Counsel and parties are instructed to identify the assigned judicial officer and department on the first page of all proposed orders lodged with the clerk, beneath the case number, to ensure proper distribution.
