Our Mission
The ADHA's core ideology is focused on leading the transformation of the dental hygiene profession to improve the public's oral and overall health. The ADHA's vision is that dental hygienists are integrated into the health care delivery system as essential primary care providers to expand access to oral health care. The mission of ADHA is to advance the art and science of dental hygiene. We work to:
  • Ensure access to quality oral health care
  • Increase awareness of the cost-effective benefits of prevention
  • Promote the highest standards of dental hygiene education, licensure, practice and research
  • Represent and promote the interests of dental hygienists

Dear NH RDHs,

Happy Summer fellow RDHs! What a beautiful season we are having here in the granite state. I hope you are having a wonderful time enjoying it.

NHDHA is thrilled to bring you high quality, cutting edge CEs and we believe Pam Hughes, RDHs "Navigating Today's Clinical Challenges" and Angie Stone's "Dying From Dirty Teeth" are presentations that will educate, encourage and empower you to bring your learning experience to the next level. Now that we have completed the details for the October 1, 2016 event with Pam Hughes I am busy working alongside BJ Brown, RDH, MS, CPHDH and Gail Brown, JD, MSW from The NHOHC to host Angie Stone for a collaborative, interprofessional CE in March of 2017 "Dying From Dirty Teeth." We look forward to seeing you all at these amazing events.

As I am sure many of you know, 2 CEUs in the area of infection control are required for license renewal in 2017. NHDHA is happy to be your source for all of your continuing education needs and infection control is at the top of our priority list. We are working closely with the DHC/BODE to answer many questions that have been asked and we are happy to work alongside you to ensure all of these requirements and your questions are answered. Please feel free to reach out to us at any time.

Dentistry is an ever changing field and our internal governance is no exception. We are working hard at the state and national level to bring you the support and resources you need and want to improve your career experience. We are interested in your feedback on benefits and resources that would be helpful to you. We are your voice at the state and national level, there has never been a better time to get involved and have your thoughts and opinions put into action. Check our website for meeting and event times. Our calendar is updated often so visit frequently for the most current and inclusive information.

Spotlight, NHDS Hygienist Of The Year
Elizabeth "BJ" Brown, RDH, MA, CPHDH

This is Dr. Ahern's presentation to BJ at their event in Meredith, NH May 2016.

"At this time, I would like to present the Hygienist of the Year Award.  This award goes to a hygienist whose contributions to his or her peers, patients and the community in general are superlative.  This year's winner is someone who more than fits this profile.  For decades, she has committed herself to working with elderly populations throughout southern New Hampshire.  One colleague who works with her at the VA hospital recalls her energy and passion for working with all elderly patients - even those whose battles with dementia make it difficult to convey their needs.  Another colleague from the Seacoast area describes her commitment to the long-term oral health care of the elderly as "unsurpassed".  Furthermore, her work as a teacher cannot be understated - this years' winner is someone who has a true passion for educating others, especially those who hopefully will follow in her footsteps as a public health dental hygienist.  Personally, I cannot think of a better candidate for this prestigious award.  I am therefore extremely glad to present this year's Hygienist of the Year Award to my dear friend, Elizabeth "BJ" Brown."

Congratulations BJ, you are so deserving and we are proud to have the privilege to work with you!
