Welcome Jackie

Here we "grow" again! Jackie Bailey has joined our office as a Client Care Coordinator and you will soon be hearing her on the other end of the phone, if you have not already! We are very thankful that Jackie found her way to us and has joined our scheduling team.

Jackie has lived in Olympia for 15 years and is a recent graduate of the Evergreen State College. She and her partner, Ben, have a 10 year old dog (a border collie/ chihuahua mix) who is the absolute love of her life!

"Covid has changed what my weekends look like. Prior to the pandemic, you would find me supporting my partner at one of his performances. He is a fiddle player around Olympia and plays a lot of bluegrass, Americana, folk, punk." Jackie now spends more time working on her crafts; sewing, crocheting and creating clothing from natural botanical dyes she makes at home. She also enjoys day hikes and long walks in the beautiful Pacific Northwest area.

We are happy to have Jackie's positive, creative presence in our office and we hope you will help us welcome her to our AHC family.
WARM WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE
Our annual collection of warm winter items has begun. From now until December 17th, bring your donations of NEW socks, gloves, scarves, hats, blankets, and non skid slippers to one of our offices. We will be partnering with local senior centers to distribute them to low income seniors in time for Christmas. Can you help us make someone's holidays a little warmer this Christmas season? Thank you!
December Training Corner

Reminder: The RN Supervisors are always available to set up in person, 1-on-1 training sessions at your convenience. If you want more training in certain areas or to practice things like hoyer lift transfers, end of life care, etc., they are here to help you succeed!

What Clients Are Saying About You

We've had the opportunity this month to both witness and hear about how you, our home care heroes, are helping our clients and making a difference in their lives. We want to highlight some of their quotes here:

Loli H.C.  "She pays attention to him which makes him feel important. She is his friend. I don't feel afraid to leave him if she is here. She is caring, knowledgeable, attentive, and hard working.
Diana, wife of client

Miranda U. "He is so happy with the caregiver he has. His caregiver is spectacular. My dad would not be alive today without them. He was reluctant to take help from his daughter's but he was willing to take help from his caregiver.
Dalwyn, daughter of client

Crystal R. "He really likes Crystal. She has been patient with him to learn his little ways. It's helped to keep him stable."
Laura, friend/neighbor of client

Creig K. "We especially enjoyed the services that Craig provided. He treated him like his own father. "
Kathy, Daughter-in-law of client

Sarah B. "I like the lady they sent to take care of me. She is outstanding. She is kind, considerate, and thorough. I like that I don't have to repeat myself around her."
Mrs. B., client

We are so proud of all of the work that you do with our clients. We look forward to highlighting other heroes in this column every month!

Be Prepared for Winter Driving

The first day of winter is coming up on December 21, the long, dark season when we are most likely to encounter snow and ice and other cold weather conditions. Last month we reminded you about carrying a flashlight, cleaning your headlights, and keeping your car in good condition. This month we want to remind you to be prepared for bad weather. Please remember these tips:
·       Check your tires! Tires that are worn do not have good traction and will not perform well on rain or ice or snow slickened roads. Replacing tires is a hassle and an expense – but getting into an accident is far worse.
·       Be sure your windshield wipers are working properly. Replace the blades if necessary.
·       Carry an ice scraper, a shovel, gloves, and a blanket. Consider keeping a bottle of water and some snacks in your car just in case you are stuck on the road longer than expected.
·       Keep your gas tank at least half full and always know where you are going!
We appreciate your dedication to our clients, who need help regardless of weather or road conditions.   Please take care of yourselves and be safe! We care about you!
W2s and You

The end of the year is almost here and that means that your W2s for taxes will be mailed out come January. Did you move this year? Have you made sure we have your current mailing address?

Please call or email Mychael to update him on any changes before there is a delay in getting this important document out to you. W2s are typically mailed out by January 31st. Thank you!
