DCASE is excited to announce a new series of Professional Development workshops and events. The program aims to support Chicago's creative community and connect emerging artists to the City of Chicago's most visible festivals, events and cultural programming.

Professional Development Workshops and Events
All events are FREE and do not require advanced registration, unless otherwise noted
Monday, July 9: 6:30-8:30pm

Join The Playlist Retreat, founded by DJ Jazzy Jeff, for an intimate gathering of progressive artists for the purpose of inspiration, motivation and collaboration and an organic exchange between people who believe in the greater purpose of expression through music. This event will focus on DJ Jazzy Jeff and his group Trinity (Rhymefest, Dayne Jurdan and Uhmeer) performing selected songs from his latest album #M3, followed by a discussion of the songs. The event will end with a Q & A from the audience.
 
Arts Educator Opportunities

DCASE is now offering a free guided Exhibition Exploration especially for Elementary and High School groups.

 

Delve into current exhibitions and explore the Chicago Cultural Center, Learning Lab and Millennium Park!

Several hundred arts teachers from Chicago Public Schools, After School Matters and arts organizations citywide attended the reception in their honor to celebrate the community of people who believe and support the creative potential of Chicago's youth. Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) have designated 2018 as the "Year of Creative Youth", a citywide initiative to celebrate Chicago youth in the arts and the mentors who inspire them. The Year of Creative Youth website includes resources and event highlights from across Chicago's youth arts community. Youth arts organizations are invited to submit youth performances, events or opportunities occurring in Chicago for the website or other channels. Known for its artistic creativity, the Chicago Jazz Festival showcases FREE live performances by Chicago's vast jazz talent alongside national and international artists. The Art Fair will take place Friday, August 31, thru Sunday, September 2, in Millennium Park's Wrigley Square - from 11am to 9:30pm (this is an outdoor event and will take place rain or shine).
