(Sacramento, CA - July 9, 2019)
CAWA, Representing the Automotive Parts Industry, is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2019 automotive high school teachers scholarship awards. Named the Motorcar Parts of America - Selwyn Joffe awards, CAWA provided two scholarships this year, in its inaugural year of providing scholarships to high school teachers to support their automotive programs. "CAWA is proud to assist these automotive high school teachers, in part, to assure their programs remain viable and well-resourced for the benefit of their students and our industry", said Rodney Pierini, President and CEO, in announcing the awards.

Recipients of the scholarships include:

Brian Wheeler - Alhambra High School in Martinez, California, and
James Hooker - Taft Union High School in Taft, California

Thanks to the gracious financial support of the following organizations and individuals, CAWA was able to provide these and future scholarships:

University of the Aftermarket Foundation
Motorcar Parts of America
Parts Authority
GB Remanufacturing
Glazier Sales
Selwyn Joffe
Shaffer & Company
Shamrock Sales & Marketing

Furthermore, companies which agreed to provide product for classroom use and access for teachers to their training programs included:

Automotive Distribution Network
Delphi Technologies
Motorcar Parts of America
Scrubblade, Inc.

The primary scholarship fundraising effort by CAWA is its annual dinner gala held the Sunday night before the AAPEX and SEMA shows. This year it will be held at Caesar's in Las Vegas on November 3, 2019. "Because of the gracious underwriting of the event by Motorcar Parts of America, CAWA can replenish its scholarship funds for students and automotive high school teachers by placing all revenues raised at the event towards scholarships", commented Pierini.
