Minister Duncan attends Congress
The Honourable Kirsty Duncan attended Congress in Regina, seizing the occasion to watch the  Storytellers Competition , tour the  Expo tradeshow  floor, hold an invitation-only roundtable on Women in the Humanities and Social Sciences and participate in SSHRC's  40th birthday celebration.
Celebrating Indigenous History
June is National Indigenous History Month. The Federation encourages its members, staff and the broader community to seize this opportunity to reflect on the rich histories of the First Nations, Inuit and the Métis, as well as on their outstanding achievements and contributions to building the Canada we know today.

Congress 2019 website is now live
The University of British Columbia will host the next Congress under the theme "Circles of Conversation," emphasizing the deep, two-way relationships between the university and the communities it serves: local, provincial, national and global. Check out the recently launched  Congress 2019 website ! If you are a Congress 2019 organizer, the 2019 participation form is ready on the organizers' portal - members and non-members alike, please go ahead and fill it in. 
A warm welcome to a new President-Elect and two new Board
members
Following the May 27 General Assembly, the Federation is pleased to welcome three new Board members: Patrizia Albanese as President-Elect, Wesley Crichlow as Director of Equity and Diversity, and Marcel Martel as Chair of the Awards to Scholarly Publications Program (ASPP). Outgoing Board members Cindy Blackstock and Anne-Marie Fortier were thanked for their remarkable service to the organization.

Role of HSS project
Dozens of students and faculty members have contributed their ideas about how the humanities and social sciences community can better communicate the importance of what we do to Canadians. There is still time to provide your input! Help us develop our new Role of HSS project, which proposes a new narrative around the value of HSS to society.

Congratulations to the 2018 Canadian Political Science Association (CPSA) prize recipients on their three-minute thesis competition! The CPSA Board of Directors thanks the members of the juries for their valued comments and service to the Association. 
Highlights from the HSS community
Have your say on data management
Canada's major research funders have developed a new draft data management policy and are welcoming feedback between now and August 31. This policy will affect many aspects of how research data is collected, stored, and used for years to come. HSS scholars are encouraged to share their thoughts to ensure that the policy reflects our community's unique needs. 
Final Five SSHRC Storytellers announced
After 25 inspiring three-minute presentations, the 2018 Final Five Storytellers were announced on site at Congress 2018. How is Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council funded research improving our lives and our world? See how SSHRC celebrated this year's winners!
