"I'm so afraid, what if he ODs?"

Mothers and Fathers all over this country are crying this out over their sons and daughters. The enemy has gotten a stronghold in this country  with a deadly world view that says, "you should never feel pain or be upset or even.... feel free to always live in a party."

Just like the 3D  and High Def video games they play, the pornography that blankets the internet and the insane idea to legalize marijuana/abortions... its all not real. Our children are being desensitized to the reality of life, which has not changed for the past 4000 years. Our success in life is determined by how we choose to cope with these painful or confusing issues of life. The truth of God's Word is this: there is going to be pain and sin in this world and your life. And there is only one thing that fills the hole we have created by that pain... that desperate attempt to satisfy that longing for relationship and fulfillment.... The Truth.... it is satisfied only by the Spirit of God.

What the Lord has taught me over the years is that we must be willing to let go of these fears and learn to get to a new level of trusting God with them which is based on the sovereignty of the Creator. The promise of Isaiah 25:8-9 says, "He will swallow up death forever. The sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The Lord has spoken. In that day they will say, "Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us...."

Our peace will only come when we can believe that God loves our wayward child, has a plan for that child and is in control of what is going on in that child's life; .....even when things look so out of control....even up to death. Oh my gosh, I just lost half the moms reading this article. But its true.

Prov.29:17-19 says, "Discipline your son, and he will give you peace; he will bring delight to your soul. Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint;but blessed is he who keeps the law(restraint). A servant cannot be corrected by mere words; though he understands he will not respond." Can you get the truth of that scripture? Sometimes we have to trust God that our discipline and revelation of God's sovereignty with our kids may require God to do some drastic things but its only for their own good in the big picture of God's universal plan.  I'd rather spend eternity in heaven with my child in all God's glory than 50 years here on earth trying to change or fix my son or daughter resulting in disaster. But to say that, I really have to know God and be able to trust him just as Abraham did with Issac.

Here's God's promise to you:
22. "...No longer will Jacob be ashamed; no longer will their faces grow pale.
23. When they see among them their children, the work of my hands, they will keep my name holy; they will acknowledge the holiness of the Holy One of Jacob, and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.
24. Those who are wayward in spirit will gain understanding; those who complain will accept instruction." Isaiah 29:22-24

God is telling you....do not be afraid!
BUT if you are in the midst of a current crisis, you have to ask yourself this question, "What is God trying to teach me? And where is He trying to lead me in my spiritual growth?"

"Where is Molly?"

(CNN) "Have you heard of molly?" the girl next to me asked. She was swaying from side to side, bobbing her head to the bass vibrating throughout the sold -out venue. The room was filled with anticipation of the concert but the girl next to me was obviously feeling much better. Seems that molly is a pretty popular lady these days with the younger crowd. The truth is that molly, a name shortened  from "molecule", is a killer.
No wonder that Hip-hop artists claim to know her--she is mentioned by 2 Chainz in the Nicki Minaj track "Beez In The Trap," by Childish Gambino in his song "Unnecessary," by Kanye West in "Mercy," by Danny Brown in "Die Like a Rockstar".  Interesting song titles that talk to such a dangerous drug with words like trap, unnecessary, mercy and die....

Parents, spouses, friends and neighbors....according to the DEA, "it is a schedule 1 controlled substance, considered to have a high potential for abuse and no accepted use in medical treatment, which means it is illegal."  A fact that is glaringly not a very strong deterrent for substance abuse with this younger generation. But that's another whole discussion.

Molly is an innocent code name for MDMA, the main ingredient in Ecstasy. The difference is that Ecstasy usually comes in pill form and is commonly mixed with other drugs such as "cocaine, crack, meth and bath salts." Molly is pure MDMA and usually comes in a powder or capsule. According to DEA agent Harry Sommers, "It's pure and there is more of it. It is clearly dangerous." Molly causes your body to overheat, excessive sweating potentially causing hypothermia. If untreated or taken in larger amounts it could lead to seizures, kidney failure or heart failure. One capsule ingested will slow your heart rate 10x the normal limit and reeks havoc on your immune system. Take two and it damages you brain without you even being able to realize it. It becomes an addiction and soon a cry for help. By the fifth one you take, it starts killing your organs and preventing them from functioning as normal. It increases your chance of stroke and heart attack and can cause your lungs to stop functioning all together.

This is a very powerful and dangerous drug, especially when taken with other substances such as marijuana or alcohol. A large number of our recent OD's in Birmingham have been caused by this deadly combination.

Finally, MDMA releases a surge of serotonin, depleting your brain of this important chemical. According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, the side affects include confusion, depression, sleep problems, drug craving and anxiety which can last days and weeks.

Its really a "crap shoot" when you take this drug because you don't know what is really in it. It is basically a synthetic drug and part of the amphetamine family. The DEA says the purity of Molly is almost a myth because it comes in powder  form and can easily be mixed with other drugs such as meth, crack, and bath salts, which makes it even more toxic.

There is no smell associated with Molly and in powder form can easily be mixed into any water or drink container with no visible signs. At $100 an ounce it is cheap and available. So $20 worth can easily "get you on your way."

Statistics on this drug are limited but are showing evidence that Molly is being used more by younger  people.  I believe that is because the generation of young people coming up now has been blinded and desensitized by the world pop culture to the dangers of synthetic drugs. Our present culture paints an insatiable mental craving in our kids minds that tells them they need to take something anytime they don't feel right or good.  They are losing their capacity to "cope" with the things of life and are looking to a pill for all solutions.....
The government wants to regulate and control our lives with more laws or new prescriptions. The truth is we need more programs that bring the hope and healing of God's living word to the lives of these young people.

The truth is....there is no pill that can fill the deep rooted need for God in their lives to help cope with those pains or make you feel different than you feel at the moment. Life is always going to present us pain and disappointment but how we cope with that is different. The truth is that the world offers you its best "shot", first right up front, you take it and after that things only get worse.... but with the Lord, when he offers you help up front.....and you take it......It Always Gets BETTER!
