Save the Date: St. John will be walking in the parade July 4th to promote Bible School and future events. We have a banner, we have a truck and we have things to pass out. Now all we need is you. If you can walk with us please let the church office know or show up on the 4th and we'll be happy to see you. Families are welcome and encouraged to do this. Youth 4th grade and under will need to be accompanied by parents for the safety of the children.   If you have an old St John T-shirt from any occasion please wear it. More information to follow in the bulletin, e-Skinny and Facebook.

Stained Glass Project

In our effort to spring clean, with document and history organization, we have come across this amazing stained glass. There is more than what is pictured. The glass is from the original church built in 1924, nearly 100 years old. At the moment, I am a committee of one looking for others interested in preserving and re-purposing this glass in time for our 150th anniversary in 2022. I am looking for committee members and stained glass artists. The council has approved this endeavor, but we would like to look for possibly someone in our congregation or related to the congregation that has stained glass experience. We would like to utilize the glass to make a new single piece or possibly a three piece set. My idea is a cross, but it could be a window shape, thus the need for a committee to brain storm.
This could be a two part project. If we have someone with artistic ability in the congregation, perhaps they could design a piece with the colors available in the glass and we could find the stained glass expert to make it, or it could be start to finish by one person with artistic ability and stained glass skill. I have also considered a high school art class working on a community project with adult supervision.
This is the time to brainstorm, find others interested in the project and find our artist(s). If you have any insight into how this project can be accomplished, know a stained glass artist or anything to help, please contact Janet Petefish at petefishj@mchsi.com or get a message to me through Kathy Hoeft.

 History and Records

Linda Klemesrud and I have taken on the project to preserve newspaper clippings, photos and other documents so that they will be here for another 100 years.  We still need your help with photos.  Linda and I will be there every other Wednesday this summer to preserve these items and we welcome some more help with that, too. I can come at other times if you are willing to look through some pictures that are still unidentified.   Let Kathy know or me at petefishj@mchsi.com so I can make arrangements. Thank you,  Janet Petefish

CONFIRMATION
Those students who have finished the third year of our confirmation program are required to write personal faith statements to put on their display board for the Confirmation Fair on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. The writing of these faith statements will hopefully give the students an opportunity to reflect on what they have learned, what they believe, and how their faith will affect the way they live their daily life following Confirmation Sunday. The display boards will also contain some other information such as, reflections on their baptism, and their favorite service project. These faith statements are due Wednesday, September 26th in the Youth and Family office, but will require some work over the summer. So, parents - don't let your student wait until school starts in August to get started! Confirmation Sunday is October 14, 2018.
