Reflection on the School Year:

Hello Etna Families,

As I reflect on this school year, I am amazed at the experiences and learning that has happened here at Etna Elementary.  I am honored to have been part of it all, not only this year, but over the past three years.  As many of you know, I will not be returning to Etna Elementary next year.  I will be taking on a district leadership position as Southwest Licking's Director of Curriculum.  I am very excited for this opportunity to make additional relationships and continue to help Southwest Licking progress and achieve as a district.  I know that the building will be in good hands next year as Alissa Horstman will become the principal and Andrea Patridge will be the assistant principal.  I look forward to continuing to watch your students grow and continuing to be a resource to your family.

Thank you so much and have a great summer.

Tanya Moore

News!

* Quiz Bowl:  Congratulations to our Etna Quiz Bowl team in their win over Licking Valley on Wednesday night.

* Honor Flight:  Saturday May 19th Etna Elementary is sponsoring a veteran for Honor Flight! We held hat days earlier this school year and received enough donations to sponsor a veteran to take the Honor Flight. HF is an organization that flies World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War era veterans to Washington DC for the day, to tour their memorials, honor them, and thank them for their service. We are hoping for a huge Southwest Licking turnout to welcome home these heroes.

  • On Saturday the 19th of May, you have the opportunity to surprise 90 veterans by giving them the welcome home and overdue thanks they so greatly deserve.
  • Be at the John Glenn Columbus International Airport around 8:45 p.m. at the Southwest ticket counter.  Look for the yellow shirted volunteers.  Bring signs, flags and tissues!

* Upcoming Events - Volunteers Needed:  We are coming to the end of the school year and have a lot of fun activities planned for May and we need volunteers.  Sign Up Here:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0544afaa2ca4fe3-mayevents

* 5th Grade Camp:  If you need to pay the balance for 5th Grade Camp for next year, here is the PayPal link.  Please be sure to include your students name and current homeroom teacher.  goo.gl/FkjiHA

* Student Safety Drills:  Next week, we will be practicing our fire drills, tornado drills and lock down drills.

Etna Spotlight

Mrs. Connor has organized the 4th grade field trip to the Statehouse and has coordinated for all of the funding and bussing!  This is sure to be a great experience for our fourth grade students.
