BMS Grand Champions in Power of the Pen
Out of 37 competing teams at last month’s Power of the Pen Regional Contest, Brady Middle School's Teams earned the tournament "Grand Champion" title with both the eighth grade and seventh grade teams garnering first place in each division respectively. A record number of 10 Brady students qualified to compete in the prestigious "Pen Ohio" State Tournament at the College of Wooster on May 25, 2018.  read more
Congrats Hannah! "Stop the Hate - Youth Speak Out" Winner
Orange High School Junior Hannah Shuffer received a $40,000 scholarship by finishing first in the "Stop the Hate Youth Speak Out" Contest last weekend held at the Cleveland Museum of Art and sponsored by the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage. The annual Essay Contest celebrates students committed to creating a more accepting, inclusive society by reflecting on real-life situations and detailing ways to make a positive difference in the world.
Brava Autumn! Dazzle Award Best Actress Nominee
Orange High School senior Autumn Key was nominated for Best Actress in the third annual Playhouse Square Dazzle Awards for her role as "Motormouth Maybelle" in the school’s spring production of "Hairspray." She will be featured in the Dazzle Awards production and award ceremony at Playhouse Square on May 19, 2018. Key was also nominated last year for a Dazzle Award as Best Supporting Actress.
Kids' Book Bank Donations
The Orange City School District is participating in a book drive to collect gently used and new children's books that will be donated to the Cleveland "Kids' Book Bank" to support literacy in disadvantaged communities. Yellow donation bins will be located at Moreland Hills School and the Pepper Pike Learning Center through the end of the school year.
Community Chat, May 11
The Orange Schools will host a Community Chat on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Slyman's Restaurant, 4009 Orange Place. Residents are invited to drop in any time during that period to briefly visit with two Orange Schools Board of Education members and to meet our new Superintendent Dr. Lynn Campbell.
