Jerry Lehman: 1936 - 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we share news of the passing of a great man and founder of Buyamba USA, Jerry Lehman, who went to be with the Lord early this morning in his hometown, Kingston, New York. Jerry was 82 years old and is survived by his wife Pat Lehman and family.

Jerry and Pat established Buyamba in 2002 in Kingston, New York, after Jerry had met and befriended Pastor Bethuel and Florence Dongo and their family while he served as a missionary in Uganda from 1984-1987. Jerry was passionate about helping the Dongo family reach out to those children in Uganda who were orphaned and fatherless. He opened the non-profit called Buyamba Orphan Outreach when he returned to the United States and began the process of finding a sponsor for each of the children that the Dongo family had brought under their care. Pastor Dongo considered Jerry and Pat his spiritual parents.

His life was that of following the Lord all of his days, and with that, Jerry impacted many. He carried Buyamba Orphan Outreach for five years and then joined hands with the new Buyamba non-profit that was born in California in 2007, as he and his wife Pat retired. Jerry’s vision for calling people in the United States to help those across the sea, continues today. We will miss him dearly, and extend our love and prayers to his wife, Pat.

Florence Dongo, upon reflection said it best ...

"The Hero, the great man has fallen! Yes, he has fought a good fight, he has kept the faith. Jerry Lehman will receive the crown of Victory on that day!"
Bible Camp & Summer Greetings

For the second year in a row, we are sending out and collecting summer greetings to extend the opportunity to YOU to bless a child with a word of encouragement.

The two-sided greeting card featured here is on it's way to our sponsors and donors along with a return envelope, so it can be mailed back to the office and then hand delivered to the students in Uganda by the teams traveling this summer. The Ugandans know and love the American flag because its people have touched their hearts. In case you are not on our physical mailing list and you would like to send a card, or you need more than one card, you can download and print the card from our website.

So far this summer, we have raised $4,000 for Bible Camp and are in need of $16,000 more to cover the costs for lodging, food, activities and other supplies that will bless the children of God Cares and the surrounding communities.
I am Talemwa Rogers from Uganda, East Africa, and I am 23 years old on August 15, 2018. I am graduating with a bachelor's degree in Community Health, a field under Public Health at Africa Renewal University, a Christian university where I served as the students’ president. I'm in the middle between two brothers, raised by a single mother who has HIV/AIDS and just got remarried a few years back. God saved my brothers and me from the “Mother to Child Transmission of HIV” at a time when preventive measures were not yet perceived. We lost our father due to witchcraft and poisoning...
Joel is 11 years old. His father passed away, and his mother needs help sending Joel to school. He has three brothers and one sister that are also in the Buyamba program. Your support would offer him the love, hope, and a future that he longs for.
Prayer & Praise

Join us as we continually lift this ministry in Uganda up in prayer.

Pray for healing for one of our long time partners and friends, Dave Schmille, as he is suffering from a rare auto immune disease and needs divine healing. Dave has led many people over the years from Cross Timbers church to serve at the bible camp each summer.

Pray for funds to begin building the much needed High School Dorms at God Cares HS
Outlined in our monthly newsletter, read the facts, figures, and action plan to get the High School Dorms constructed.
