What Makes Great Boards Great
One of the fundamental tasks facing any nonprofit is establishing a board of directors to oversee the organization.
The board plays an essential role, even if others (such as CEO/President, paid staff and volunteers) handle the organization's everyday affairs.
In addition to setting policies and the organization's overall direction the board of directors defines the organization's mission, establishes priorities, crafts strategies and ensures that all plans and programs are implemented.
Great Board Members Make Great Boards
The characteristics of an outstanding board member include:
  • Sharing a passion for and commitment to the cause
  • Eager to participate
  • Willing to prepare ahead for meetings
  • Anxious to serve on committees
  • Ability and propensity to give above average financially
  • Strong ties to our community
  • Supportive but willing to express their own opinion
  • Strives to learn as much as possible
Our Board of Directors reflects a cross section of our diverse membership group and is a balanced mix of experienced, proven leaders and new voices with fresh ideas.
The Escondido Chamber of Commerce is very fortunate to have great board members and a great board and it is my pleasure to announce the following awards:
The Escondido Chamber of Commerce recognizes 2017 - 2018 Rookie Board Member of the Year Tom Stamos , Escondido Reality and Board Members of the year, Mona Durney , Rancho Computer Networks Inc . and Dan Meyer , Escondido Disposal Inc.

Get Better Data for Better Energy Decisions
SDG&E's Small Business Real-Time Energy Manager gives businesses, with at least three locations, an incentive to install a qualified energy management system (EMS). An automated EMS gives you control of your multiple locations and insights into your daily energy use. Enhance your facility's energy performance by integrating automated demand response capabilities into your lighting, HVAC and energy management systems. Here are more great reasons to invest in an EMS:
  • Better understanding of how to manage your energy across multiple locations
  • You can make informed decisions on pricing and savings during Event Days
  • Improves system performance and productivity by automating system functions so that they work together more efficiently
  • Optimizes system performance which may reduce electricity consumption and could increase your bottom line
Right now, an incentive for 50% of the project cost (capped at $10,000 max) is available when you install a qualified Energy Management System. For more information, visit sdge.com/RTEM or call 1.800.336.7343.
San Diego Forward: The 2019-2050 Regional Plan

Th e 2019 Regional Plan will provide a big-picture vision for our region over the next 30 years with an implementation program to make that vision a reality. The Regional Plan is intended to represent all the different communities and constituencies that encompass our diverse region, which is why SANDAG needs to hear from your community and members.

In fact, TODAY, May 2, from 5pm - 7pm SANDAG is co-hosting an open house with the National Latino Research Center (NLRC) and Vista Community Clinic about the 2019 Regional Plan. Visit  https://www.facebook.com/events/1014888065328851/ for more details.

Attendees will have the opportunity to provide input on the changes they would like to see in San Diego's transportation network as SANDAG develops a 30-year vision for the future of our region.  Another important (and easy) way for San Diego region residents to provide input is by taking a brief  survey ,  which is  available through May 10th.
