Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategic Planning Virtual Session will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The Strategic Planning session is to provide focus on the City's efforts to provide for a Diverse and Inclusive Environment. Due to these trying times, The City of Westland has a variety of food assistance for our residents:

The Wayne-Westland Salvation Army Food Pantry Program - will be distributing food for people who are in need of food assistance from their pantry on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 and Friday, December 11, 2020 from 9 am - 11 am. Face masks are required, and can be provided if needed. They are located at 2300 S. Venoy Rd, Westland, you can call them at (734)722-3660. Please share with anyone you know who could use some help during these turbulent times.

Gleaners Free Food Distribution will be on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The food distribution will be at Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center located at 32150 Dorsey Road.
City of Westland Mayor William R. Wild, City of Wayne Mayor John P. Rhasea, Wayne-Ford Civic League President Vic Barra hold their annual Holiday Meals for Wayne-Westland Veterans and Active Duty Families. Recipients will receive a turkey (16-20 lbs.) stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans to feed a family of 6-8 people. The meal is free. All you need to do is register at www.cityofwestland.com and click on the veterans link. Applications must be submitted by Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Fourth Annual Veterans Virtual Resource Fair Honoring Women Veterans - On December 10, 2020 10 a.m - 2 p.m. There will be vendors & resource providers to assist with Health Care, Foreclosure Prevention, Employment, Housing, Utility Assistance & More. The "All American Holiday Decorating Contest" runs through December 31. Residents can visit the City of Westland's website www.cityofwestland.com to nominate themselves or a friend in one or all of the three categories. Best Traditional Display, Most Creative Display and Over the Top Display. Nominees will be asked to enter a picture along with their submission. Winners will be announced at the January 18th Council Meeting.
