MNA African American Ministries Coordinator Wy Plumme

MNA African American Ministries (AAM) has been led by one full-time staff member for close to eighteen years. The ministry has experienced steady growth as the presence of African Americans in the PCA has increased. Our numbers have increased in pastors, teachers, and others taking on denominational leadership roles. I work closely with the all-volunteer leadership of the African American Presbyterian Fellowship (AAPF), whose ministry also is growing. With this growth comes the opportunity and need for additional administrative support for African American Ministries.

To fill this need we've brought Denine Blevins onto the MNA staff as Operations Assistant for the AAM. She was formerly the Systems & Operations Coordinator with Redeemer City to City in New York. She comes with a breadth of experience in administration and relational database management. Denine will be working closely with AAPF leader Alex Shipman and with me in overseeing the ministry operations of the AAM and AAPF.

Denine is a God-send who recently moved to Huntsville, Alabama, with her husband Robert Blevins, who is the Director of Community Development at Southwood Presbyterian Church. We called Denine because of a need but also because we believed that God was sending the right person at the right time to fill a vital role in this ministry.

We called Denine with a commitment to raise new support for her salary. I am thus making an appeal and asking if you and/or your church would consider donating funds to help us finance this position. Our goal is to raise $45K per year, which will pay a full-time salary, benefits, and travel. Currently Denine is part-time and paid out of other AAM accounts that will soon run out of funds. I would love to discuss this appeal with you. Please feel free to contact me at 205-478-7722 or wplummer@pcanet.org. For those of you who would like to begin making contributions, please send your checks to MNA with the memo designation, "AAM Operations Assistant".

As always we are very grateful for those of you who are currently supporting us. For those interested in joining the support team you may send your gifts to Mission to North America at PO Box 890233, Charlotte NC 28289-0233 with the designation "African American Ministries." Further information about the ministry of MNA can be found on our website (www.pcamna.org), where you may also donate online.
