National Library Week is upon us and is a great reminder to celebrate our library and all it represents. The American Library Association has designated these days as follows:
- Monday, April 8: State of America's Libraries Report released, including Top Ten Frequently Challenged Books of 2018.
- Tuesday, April 9: National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff recognition. Nominate a "Stellar Employee".
- Wednesday, April 10: Library Giving Day is a one-day fundraising event with the goal of encouraging people who depend on and enjoy public libraries to donate to their individual library system. There are a number of ways to give, whether to the librarydirectly, the Friends groups or the Endowment.
- Thursday, April 11: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to speak up for libraries and share your library story. Use this hashtag #MyLibraryMyStory on the I Love Libraries Facebook page, Twitter or Instagram.
One randomly selected poster will receive a $100 VISA gift card. The promotion runs from
April 7 at noon to April 13 noon central time.
See below for local National Library Week events and let's appreciate together the power of knowledge at our fingertips. Thank you to our super staff and volunteers for their customer service; we are here for you so let us know how we can better serve you!
