May 3, 2018
Greetings!

It’s an exciting time for the Performing Arts Department. In addition to preparing for end-of-the-year festivities, we are also looking forward to the 2018-2019 school year.

Our final performance of the year, the Pops concert, will be held on Thursday, May 10 at 7 p.m. in the CJ auditorium. Popular music that spans the ages, including Disney tunes, will be performed by several ensembles including the Concert Band, Concert Choir, String Ensemble, Vega, Phoenix and Hands in Harmony. All are invited to attend!

Prior to the concert, beginning at 6:00 p.m., Performing Arts student awards will be presented. All students who have been involved in performing arts this year will receive an award. Parents and guests are also welcome to be present during the award presentation.

All students interested in participating in a CJ a cappella group during the 2018-2019 school year will need to audition. This includes current students and any incoming freshmen. The auditions will be held on Monday, May 14 and Tuesday, May 15. Audition information, including audio tracks, can be found on the CJ website .

Additionally, students still discerning a decision to be a member of Eagle Pride during the 2018-2019 school year are encouraged to learn more about the group by attending one of our upcoming orientation sessions:

  • Colorguard: Thursday, May 3 | 3:30-5 p.m.
  • Percussion: Saturday, May 12 | 2-4 p.m.
  • Woodwind and Brass: Monday, May 14 | 5-6:30 p.m.

If you have any questions or would like more information about any of these events, please email me.

ATHLETICS
Athletics Announcement and Parent Meeting Reminder
Monday, May 7 | 7 p.m. | CJ Auditorium
We are pleased to announce that Jeremy Greenleaf has been named CJ’s next athletic director. After serving for two years as an assistant coach for the football team, Jeremy joined the CJ community as assistant athletic director in 2017 and has been primarily responsible for the scheduling and care of the school’s expanded athletic facilities.

At this time we thank Brian Reinhart, who has served as CJ's athletic director since 2016, for his service to the CJ community. Brian played an instrumental role in opening Roger Glass Stadium - Home of the CJ Eagles in the fall of 2016, and has helped our athletic program grow over the last two years. We wish him success in the next phase of his career as athletic director at St. Xavier High School.

I invite you to help me thank Brian for his service and welcome Jeremy in his new position at the fall parent and student-athlete meeting on Monday, May 7 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. This mandatory meeting is for everyone participating in a sport in the fall of 2018, which includes football, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, women's tennis, cheerleading and women's volleyball.

I look forward to seeing you there and at the many year-end celebrations highlighting the work of our students throughout these last few weeks.

God Bless, Go Eagles!
