Happy birthday to the amazing Beverly Cleary. Her beloved books continue her legacy as she turns 103 on April 12th!! I did not know that D.E.A.R day (Drop Everything and Read) was in honor of her birthday. Here's more about her amazing life. I love this photo gallery of her life.
Great news for Babysitter Club Fans!
A new ten-episode live-action drama of the Baby-Sitters Club is coming to Netflix soon! I recently saw a Baby-Sitters Club movie on Netflix, but this upcoming series will be great fun I'm sure!

Two amazing principals make a big deal of reading!

Farallone View Elementary School Principal, César Gaytán, gets a REAL  magic school bus involved in making reading fun at his school! He says you have to make a big deal of reading because it's critical to success! Isn't he great in his Miss Frizzle glory?
This month's Mermaid Queen is Homer Drive Elementary principal, Belinda George, who has Tucked in Tuesdays. Every Tuesday night at 7:30 she jumps into PJs and reads aloud to her students on Facebook. Here she is on Good Morning America

I am so pleased that Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots is still in print after 29 years, but Millions of Cats by Wanda Gag takes the prize! It is the oldest American picture book still in print and was published in 1928! It won the Newbery Award in 1929 and is still beloved by kids. I loved reading it aloud as a parent, teacher, and librarian. I hope you do too!
In this day and age when we hear way too much about kids committing suicide, this teacher came up with a way to hear her student's pain. She graciously shared her Instagram page to give others a way to learn more about her program. Hopefully we'll never read about another suicide, ever again.

On a much happier note, I can't resist sharing that my daughter found the prettiest lace wedding dress! Let's just say I cried! I was so happy to be able to share the day with her lovely friends and future-mother-in-law!
