1-5 No School - Spring Break
Principal's Message

Families-

We hope you will make a favorite family dish and join us here for Multicultural Night this Thursday at 5:30 PM in the Murwood MPR.  Every year, our 5th graders display their heritage posters and we share a night of food and fun celebrating how our cultures unite under this roof to build community.

Please bring a dish to share (please label to identify the food and ingredients for allergies if you can).  The rest is easy!  Grab a plate, pull up next to a family you would like to meet, and enjoy!  Stay for the entertainment our PTA has arranged for you.  This is a favorite event! Don't miss it!

Wishing you all a happy, safe spring break.  Please know we will be here ready to welcome you back bright and early on Monday, April 8!

News From the Office

A firm reminder that when the bells rings at 2:30, students who are not enrolled in Keyspot, After School enrichment or accompanied by a parent must exit the grounds immediately.  We cannot have students unsupervised on the playground.  Parents, please do not ask children to "wait for you on the playground."  This presents unnecessary risk for your child's safety.  Keyspot is always available with fun activities, homework help, and yummy snacks for your child in a safe supervised environment.

Thank you,
Nancy Kaye

Multi-Cultural Night

Please join the Murwood PTA and the 5 the Grade class March 28th from 5:30-7 for our Multicultural Night Celebration!

We invite everyone to prepare a dish to share with the room, something traditional or a family favorite (please label, including your name, dish name, and ingredients). Our diversity is what makes Murwood the beautiful, inclusive community that we are, and we'd like to take a night to celebrate together.

Student's Heritage posters will be displayed.

A trio of students from the Mongolian Contortion Center of San Francisco will perform traditional Mongolian Contortion art.  In the past, Ms. Byamba's students have been featured on America's Got Talent. Next, Ujin, a Murwood student, and three friends will perform traditional Mongolian dance. The show will close with an Irish dance performance.

This is a terrific, family-fun filled, community evening. We are looking forward to seeing all of you there!

Traditional attire is also welcomed!
Screenagers, Growing Up In The Digital Age

On Tuesday, April 16th at 7pm, Murwood's PTA is sponsoring a viewing of the movie  SCREENAGERS, GROWING UP IN THE DIGITAL AGE.   Screenagers  is about the impact of the digital age on children and how to help families minimize harmful effects and find balance.  The movie will start promptly at 7pm (following the PTA's General Board meeting from 6-7pm).  The movie is 67 minutes in length.  We will hold a brief group discussion immediately following the movie.   This event is sponsored by Murwood's PTA and is FREE.  Although a RSVP is not required, we ask and encourage you to use this link to register.
Returning to Murwood?

Parents, please remember to take a moment to fill out the "Returning to Murwood" form sent to you last week.  The information we obtain from it is important in helping us plan for next year.

Company Matching

Remember to check if your company will match donations (or perhaps volunteer hours).  Murwood PTA is a non-profit, with all donations helping all of our kids!  Check with your Human Resources Department for forms and procedures.

Did You know? Math Coach...
Local school districts like Orinda and Lafayette employ Math Coaches through their education foundations. When WCEF polled parents in a 2017 survey and you told us you are worried about math from K through Las Lomas, WCEF helped fund a TK-8 Math Coach to focus on methods, testing, teachers, and how we measure success. WCI Math Department Chair says of Math Coach Alex Thomas: "Alex is improving the math program overall and having an immediate impact. We are so fortunate to have her."
