Spring seems to have finally arrived here in Woodbury!  Sunshine and warmer temperatures mean more outdoor activities! We've got several programs beginning this month, and summer camp is just around the corner. Be sure to sign up by June 1st to avoid the late fee. The month closes out with the Memorial Day parade on Sunday, May 27th.

As weather can be unpredictable, please check our website  for all of the up-to-date information regarding all of our programs.  In the event of any changes to programs (including rain dates), our website will have the current class make-up and cancellation information!  If you're not sure, you can always call our office or email us at the information below.

Kripalu Vinyasa  moves through active, breath guided, flowing postures, allowing students to fully embody alignment and movement both energetically and physically. The sequences integrate standing, hip openers, forward bends, twists, back bends, arm balances, inversions and restorative postures. The benefits include strengthening and stretching muscles, increasing bone density, releasing tension, and centering body-mind.

Come paint, shimmy, paste, and squish your way through a variety of creative projects with The Clever Crayon! Moms, Dads and caregivers will meet new friends and create lasting memories while making hand-print animals and crepe paper collage, exploring sensory materials, reading, singing and so much more! Watch your child build fine motor and social skills in a safe, imaginative and fun filled environment. We can't wait to see you there!

Yoga Art

In this artistically-active class, children will enjoy creating a unique and seasonal art project followed by theme related yoga movement, music and games. The perfect way to break up the day!

Job Opportunity:  Pomperaug Youth Conservation Corps Crew Members

Deadline: May 15


Crew members work outdoors as a team to enhance natural areas in the Pomperaug Watershed communities.  This might include maintaining trails and bridges in parks, constructing rain gardens, improving riparian habitat, removing invasive species, mitigating soil erosion, and more.
 
Crew members are selected through a competitive application process to work under a trained leadership team. Members must be willing to meet the mental and physical challenges of working in the outdoors by demonstrating maturity, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic. A commitment to the environment and to their local communities is essential.

Summer Camp Registration
Save $30 by registering before June 1st!



Grades K-6

Come and spend the day with your friends while enjoying games, crafts, sport, drama, theme days, talent shows, and much more.  

All children are grouped by grade and all activities are age appropriate. Camp is for children entering Kindergarten to grade 6 in the fall. Camp will be held at the Mitchell School from 8:30am to 2:30pm Monday through Thursday, and on Fridays we are at Hollow Park for five weeks. You may choose any number of weeks you like. 


Grades 7-9

Monday through Thursday, a different trip every day!

Meet in the Middle School Parking lot and board a bus at 9:00am for a different destination each day. Return around 3pm depending on the trip, sometimes later. Some of those destinations are: Escape 101, Lake Compounce, Brownstone Discovery Park, and more! Please note: Week Two: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (no Wednesday - July 4)

Pilates Mat
Tuesdays, starting 5/1

Pilates Mat  focuses on strengthening and lengthening key muscles of the pelvis, ribcage, shoulder girdle, spine, back and abdominals.  Its benefits include a healthier back, stronger pelvic floor, increased bone density, greater postural awareness, better breathing, stronger core and greater flexibility.

Pickleball is here in Woodbury! This sport has been described as a that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, it is fun and energizing, haven't heard of it? Heard of it but don't know how to play? That's ok, we will have an instructor so come and find out what pickleball is all about.

Love basketball or just keeping fit? Then this is the night for you! Residents only. Ages 18-25. $5 to register for the program. Runs until August 28th.

Science & Art

This class will combine the wonderful world of science with the creative world of art! We will do a variety of experiments and turn them into works of art! Projects include erupting volcanoes with baking soda and vinegar, magnetic slime, milk art and more! Children with enjoy exploring various reactions, textures, and color mixing while socializing and learning with friends old and new!

Connecticut Trails Weekend



Trolley Bed Preserve

Trolley Bed Preserve

Try something new this CT Trails. Explore the world of orienteering in one of Woodbury's newest parks. This program is being led by an Eagle Scout, Jared Niedermeyer from BSA Troop 54, and his fellow scouts. They will lead you through the fundamentals of orienteering on a course they set out in this preserve. Or if you just feel like taking a hike, come and enjoy the natural beauty of this preserve, explore new trails and catch a glimpse of its natural wildlife!


Flanders Nature Center

Saturday, June 2

Whittemore Sanctuary

Flanders Nature Center and Land Trust's 700+ acre property includes 8 miles of diverse, interlocking trails. This loop hike will begin west on White Trail and climbs some hills. Hikers will have options to return by a shorter or longer self-guided loop. The leader will point out appropriate intersections for either choice. Maps will be available. Hiking boots recommended for wet spots near the Bog. Heavy rain, stormy conditions cancel (Last minute updates at woodburyparksandrec.org)
