Dear Residents -
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, regardless of the restrictions put in place for 2020. Fortunately, with today's technology we can Zoom or FaceTime with our family and friends who are near and far - thus making the dinner table larger than what it seems.
My family and I, while missing my father, are thankful for the town that we live in. During one of the most difficult times in our lives, our community was there for us. More offers of help were given than one could ever imagine and for that, I am truly grateful. Thank you Orangetown for standing with us.
There are many activities taking place in Orangetown during the upcoming Holiday Season. Our American Legions, VFW's, and Fire Departments, as well as the Orangetown Police Department, will be hosting toy drives. If you are fortunate enough to be able to spare a gift this year, there are many families who will be glad you did.
Lastly, and very appropriate for an ending to 2020, I was recently contacted by the NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets that they will be in Orangetown to survey for a possible infestation of an invasive species, the Spotted Lanternfly. This insect has the potential to damage agricultural crops and trees in New York State. Please review the flyer below and if you should spot a Spotted Lanternfly, please take a picture, note the location and e-mail spottedlanternfly@agriculture.ny.gov.
Respectfully,

Chanukah - Share the Light
|
Dear Friends,
At Chabad of The Nyacks, one of our biggest concerns is:
How do we maintain the sense of community during this trying period?
This question takes on increased urgency when holidays approached, when so many will have to celebrate at home.
Chanukah, traditionally a season of family and community, is fast approaching. We will celebrate as a community - even if we all must do so from the safety of our own homes!
To this end, we are putting together special DIY Chanukah packages to be delivered to the homes of families within our community, as we’ve done for all Jewish holidays since the onset of COVID .
The kits will include a menorah, candles, a DIY guide, and more Chanukah treats for children and adults alike.
YOU CAN: volunteer. nominate. sponsor.
Click here to request a package or to suggest a neighbor or friend who would appreciate a Chanukah package.
Click here if you would like to sponsor some packages and/or can volunteer to help deliver them.
As a community, and with your help, we will bring the warmth and light of Chanukah to many families in our area.
Thank you,
Chayala Ehrenreich
P.S. Stay tuned for our safe and exciting Chanukah lightings and programs.
