The Perfect Father's Day Starts at The Bookies
Father's Day is upon us, which means it's time for Larry Yoder's recommendations for the perfect books for the dad in your life. In his own words, here are some of the 'must-haves' on our shelves (and to find even more of Larry's suggestions, check out our special section on our website here).

Patrick K. O' Donnell
"This is a fabulous story of World War I. There are stories within it I've never heard, and photos I've never seen. Readers are going to learn so much about how Germany came to fear America during the war, the story of the unknown solider, the men behind being his pallbearers. It's rich and vibrant and just perfect."

The Black Hand
The Black Hand
Stephan Talty
"A portrait of early organized crime in America. This is a well told true-crime story about the first detective to ever take on what would become the mafia and how that cost him his life."

Bad Days in History
Bad Days in History
Michael Farquhar
"There are a lot of books about important days in history, great days in history, good days in history. This is the first one that I know of that is about 'bad' days in history. Almanac style, full of great information, and just a lot of fun."

SIMPLE
Simple: The Easiest Cookbook In the World
Jean-Francois Mallet
"I know cooking is more popular now than ever, and as a man, I love this cookbook. Big pictures of what the dishes should look like, along with big pictures of each of the ingredients, always no more than four. Very French, which means don't skimp on the butter. We've got this and the followup, Simple: Desserts."

How to Stop Time
How to Stop Time
Matt Haig
"So what is the one thing an immortal cannot do? Fall in love. That's what this one is all about. Our protagonist, Tom Hazard, lives forever and breaks that rule. Pretty soon she's growing old, he isn't, and the villagers-in this case London is the village-take notice and accusations of witchcraft send him into hiding. Now he's in the modern era and it's all happening again. A really great read."

Even More Summer Reading Suggestions
We've got dad covered, but what about our younger readers trying to finish up their bingo cards or just looking for another great read? Look no further!

The Land of Stories Worlds Collide
The Land of Stories: Worlds Collide (paperback-June 12th)
Finally out in paperback! This is, sadly, the final book in this bestselling series which is easily one of the most popular in our store. See how it all ends for the twins, Conner and Alex.

Ella Sarah Gets Dressed
Ella Sarah Gets Dressed
Margaret Chodos-Irvine

This Caldecott Honor-winning story is perfect for children ages 4-7. Ella Sarah learns that being true to yourself, no matter the pressure from those around you, is the most important thing.

Stinkiest_
Stinkiest! 20 Smelly Animals
Steve Jenkins
A really fun book for young readers full of art, facts, and just a lot of fun. If your little readers are spending any time outside this summer, let them use this guide to search for-and hopefully avoid- all of the smelliest animals on the planet.

Sam Kean
This is the incredibly popular young reader's edition of the best-selling story of the periodic table of the elements. Very easy to dive into, tailored for middle-grade readers, and chock full of mind-blowing information about one of the most important contributions in the history of human science

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
Who said summer reading for our youngest readers can't be fun? For our money, it doesn't get much better than a book filled with silly story ideas, stickers, funny drawings, and a world of creativity ready to be unleashed.
