 FINANCIAL AID NEWS

Changes and support for our DACA Students
We support our dreamers
In response to the decision of the federal administration to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program,t
he Contra Costa Community College District,   "recognizes its responsibility to advocate for educational opportunities for all students regardless of immigration status and will do everything possible to support and protect our DACA students."

LMC's Financial Aid Supervisor, Jennifer Ma, reminded the campus community that, "AB 540 and the California Dream Act are state programs that are entirely separate and distinct from DACA and the federal enforcement of immigration laws."

The recent decision does not impact a student's ability to:
  • Attend our colleges,
  • Qualify for an exemption from non-resident tuition fees under AB 540
  • Apply for financial aid under the provisions of the California Dream Act
For resources and information regarding the changes to DACA, go to:
IIBA Know Your Rights Forum
If you would like to learn more about DACA and other immigrant concerns Juan Ortiz, Attorney for the International Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA) has been invited to speak and to answer questions Friday, September 15, from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. in room CO1-103. The 2nd Floor includes meeting space for Student Life and the Associated Students (LMCAS), a large social gathering area for student clubs, and meeting space for Learning Communities.

The Physical Education Complex includes brand new dance & fitness studios, a dedicated athletics workout room, a large combined general weights & cardio room, men's & women's locker rooms and showers, team sport locker rooms, and more!
