The City of Mercer Island is pleased to announce the appointment of Jessi Bon as the new permanent Parks and Recreation Director. She will begin employment on August 1, and replaces former Director Bruce Fletcher, who retired in April 2018.
Jessi has over 20 years of experience in municipal government and a strong passion for public service. Over the last two years she has served as the Deputy City Manager for the City of Sammamish, and prior to that was its Director of Parks and Recreation for 10 years.
"This is an exciting and challenging time for our Parks and Recreation Department and the entire City. I believe Jessi will provide the solid experience, positive and imaginative attitude, and steady leadership that will carry the Parks and Recreation Department, and our City, into the future. I look forward to welcoming her to our organization," said Julie Underwood, Mercer Island City Manager.

This spring, the program recognized 83 schools for their exemplary conservation practices, and 58 percent of the K-12 schools in King County outside the City of Seattle now participate.
Here on Mercer Island,

Elementary School
s, and both the Middle School and the High School were recognized for continued multi-year performance in all three categories: waste reduction and recycling; energy conservation; water conservation and pollution prevention.
