SPOTLIGHT ON
Hoopla
Past Difficulties? We Heard You!
You love accessing hoopla to borrow, stream, and download movies, TV series, ebooks, audiobooks, and comics. If you had difficulties borrowing titles in the past, we encourage you try again! To make it easier for members to borrow titles, the library increased the total daily borrowing limit.  Search hoopla for ebooks, movies, and more.
Sensory Box
Available in the Youth Department
The Sensory Box is thoughtfully therapeutic and provides a way to help children who get overwhelmed in public spaces calm down with toys that soothe. The box includes noise cancelling headphones, a weighted lap blanket, social-emotional cue cards, soft textures, and fidget toys. Ask at the Youth Information Desk for the Sensory Box, and take a reflective break time in the study room together with your child.
SPECIAL EVENT

May 29 through September 2
Keep logging your completed books or numbers of hours read and help make a difference in your community!

The challenge is for adults to read 4,000 books and kids to read for 70,000 hours. If the goals are met, the Friends of the Library and the Library Foundation will each donate funds to SCARCE, an award-winning nonprofit that provides environmental education through hands-on programs to schools, organizations, and the community. If you haven't done so already, you can still sign up and participate in GEPL Reads for SCARCE.

VOLUNTEER AT THE GLEN ELLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY!

Are you interested in volunteering at the library? There are so many ways you can get involved at the library, but there are two specialized positions that recently opened up for adults. The library is looking for facilitators for Next Chapter Book Club and Home Delivery volunteers. The Next Chapter Book Club is an exciting program that promotes literacy, social interaction, and community inclusion for adults with developmental disabilities. Home Delivery volunteers bring materials to library members that are unable to visit the library themselves. Interested in either of these positions? Fill out the Volunteer Application form on the library's website. You can also contact Sarah Kleiva, Outreach Librarian, at [email protected] with any questions.
