As spring gradually arrives, we look forward to welcoming you to the Museum, where great exhibitions and programming will be in full bloom!
We hope you can be with us on March 29th to celebrate the opening of
Photographic Lives: Robert Freson, Irving Penn, and the Portrait
with remarks by photographer Robert Freson
. Enjoy the opportunity to connect more deeply with our Assyrian reliefs and antiquities through upcoming presentations, and engage with the Bauhaus through music and gallery talks in connection with
Modernism for All: The Bauhaus at 100
. And take a deep dive into the materiality of art through a presentation about the nature of pigments in connection with
Material Resources
. Finally, the launch of Cratylus, described below, creates an opportunity to engage with our collections electronically anytime you wish and to help make them even more accessible to others through your tagging.
See you at the Museum!

Not Just the Same Old Song and Dance at the Museum
This month, we shed the spotlight on three events during the spring semester: "Let's Get Lost through Dance," "Music at the Museum," and "Performing the Bauhaus," three music and dance performances that play in conversation with current exhibitions.

April's object of the month is Gefecht (Battle) by Paul Klee, currently on view in Modernism for All: The Bauhaus at 100. Learn about this violent work, the history of the Bauhaus, and the current exhibition in this piece by curator Joachim Homann.

The Assyrian Reliefs will be the focus of two exciting programs this spring, "Collecting the Ancient Near East," and a convening of regional institutions to initiate a new digital collaborative around Assyrian reliefs in the U.S.
