Thank you for celebrating with us!

We had a FANTASTIC Virtual 3.21 World Down Syndrome Day
and hope that you did too!

Even though we weren't in the same place, we all celebrated together!

We know that every day is a day to celebrate the ones we love, but it is great to celebrate what it means to be part of the <<<Lucky Few>>> and raise awareness.
We're here to help.
We want to take a moment to let you know that we are here to support you during this time of uncertainty. We've all been thrown so many curve balls in such a short amount of time - constant concern over your loved ones' well-being, balancing home learning for your kids with your actual work, experiencing frustration that something as simple as making a run to the grocery store is now an entire ordeal.

Despite some fast, and unpredictable changes to daily life, we're inspired by you. We've seen so many creative solutions and an outpouring of support in our community and we want to extend that back to you. We've continued to add online programming options throughout the week to provide opportunities for us all to connect, learn, and grow. We're collecting online resources in a central location for easy access. Share how we can help, we're here for you.

iCan! Bike Camp Registration is OPEN!
It's time to register for
The FOUNDATION's
9th Annual iCan! Bike Camp
Here's your opportunity for your son or daughter to ride a 2-wheel bike! An AMAZING experience many only dream of. These spaces fill up fast so if you are planning to attend this year, don't miss out! This camp has been one of the most rewarding programs for parents, participants and volunteers as you get to watch someone go through a rite of passage--learning to ride a bike.
Where:
Orange County Convention Center
9400 Universal Blvd.
Orlando, FL 32719

When:
Sunday, July 19 - Friday, July 24, 2020

The Down Syndrome Foundation of Florida partners with iCan Shine to bring Central Florida much more than just a bike-riding program. The mission of this camp is to teach individuals with Down syndrome and other unique abilities to ride a conventional two wheel bicycle and become lifelong independent riders. This achievement, in turn, creates a gateway of opportunity, helping them gain assurance and self-reliance in many other aspects of their lives. For many people, it’s a seemingly impossible task to master but with this program 80% of the participants usually do it in less than a week’s time. If your son/daughter is over 8, you don't want to miss this life changing opportunity!
Summer Scholarships
We understand that schedules have been adjusted and plans are being tweaked. If you plan to begin your scholarship in May (the first month of summer scholarships), your scholarship needs to be submitted by this Friday, April 10th.

If you do not have the details you need to apply for a 2020 Summer Scholarship at this time, we will be flexible until the restrictions from COVID19 are no longer in place. Know that we are here to support you however we can through this new virtual situation.

Technology Tip and Tricks
What is Zoom?
This software allows you to virtually interact with co-workers, employers or friends when in-person meetings aren't possible. This makes telecommuting seem much more human, as it helps you feel connected. With the COVID-19 wreaking havoc across the world, for instance, Zoom has become an excellent alternative to keep in touch and continue their daily meetings with minimal disruption.

The FOUNDATION is also using Zoom as our virtual platform for all upcoming events! Check out the link below for more information and to create a FREE account.
