Luncheon (12:00-1:30)

Madison Park_s Town29 five-story_ 162-unit apartment complex in Oakland

Is the pipeline for new apartments in the East Bay equal to the demand?  So far most developers remain optimistic, but rising construction costs and financing challenges are forcing changes to conventional business models.

Join us on Tuesday, June 12 as our panel of multifamily developers explores the ways they are addressing the current and future markets.  We’ll hear a representative of Madison Park talk about rent philosophy at Town29.  We’ll also hear about wood-frame versus concrete and steel; the impact of mass transit linkage; and the future of modular components

Book Club (9:00 am)

You are invited to NCalCCIM's Book Club right before the Mentoring session. Our purpose is to read books related to our industry and have thoughtful and well-rounded discussions that help enhance and grow  our knowledge. Agreement with the various authors' viewpoints are not required and debate is recommended.

 Join us by phone: 641-715-3277

Mentoring Session (10:00 am)

Elder Abuse & Commercial Real Estate--A Local Case Study
Elder abuse and commercial real estate are usually not related, but Broker Dale Dockins, CCIM of Santa Rosa recently ended a years-long ordeal involving a client who was swindled out of a $20-million investment portfolio by her caregiver.  The Cloverdale landscaper was recently convicted of nine counts of elder abuse.

Dale will talk about the civil and criminal cases and be joined by a representative of the Sonoma County Elder protection unit who will discuss steps you can take to protect your clients and family. June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month.

Dale is founding broker of North Bay Commercial Real Estate In Santa Rosa. He has completed 15 tenant in common investments (TIC) acquisitions with 2 to 12 investors in each property. All of the properties survived the 2008 real estate downturn. North Bay Commercial manages all of the TIC properties and manages a portfolio of properties on behalf of individual clients in the San Francisco and Phoenix areas.
