Dear Parents, 

It is hard to believe that May is upon us! This last month of school is sure to be very busy! Please take a moment to read about some of our upcoming events and ways that you can support our school.


May Crowning
Tuesday, May 1

Please join us tomorrow as we honor Mary as the Queen of May. Our May crowning  ceremony will take place following our 8:15 Mass tomorrow morning. Students are asked to bring flowers with them to school tomorrow, and they will be placed in front of Our Lady as students walk to mass. 
 


Booster Club Ice Cream Sundae Social
Thursday,  May 3

The Booster Club will be hosting an ice cream sundae sale for grades 3-8 during lunch waves on Thursday. The cost will be $1.00. 


Food Pantry Ministry 
Friday, May 4 

This is our last chance to support the Blessings in a Backpack Ministry this school year, and students who bring in a food item will be able to wear their spirit shirt on Friday with their uniform.
Students are asked to bring in the following: 

PK-2 grades:    Ritz or saltine crackers
3-5 grades:       macaroni and cheese
6-8 grades:       instant oatmeal or grits


State Computer Fair 

We are so proud of all of our students that represented us at the State Computer Fair this past weekend at Auburn University of Montgomery. The following CCCS students presented projects to be judged:

PTO News

Have you bought your Derby ticket yet?   Don't miss your opportunity  to enjoy delicious  food and drinks while bidding on fabulous auction items. Make plans to join us this  Saturday evening, May 5th  beginning at 3:46. Proceeds from the PTO portion of the event will be used to renovate the erosion on our bleachers and playground area.

School Advisory Council Elections

We  are thankful for all of the candidates that agreed to be on the ballot for our recent SAC elections. The top two vote recipients were Melissa Overstreet and Brian Heller and they both will begin new terms on our School Advisory Council.

PTO Board Elections

Our PTO elections for new board members are currently underway. The elections will close on Tuesday May 8th. Please click on the link below to cast your vote.



Teacher Appreciation Week
May 7 - 11

Our teachers work hard to inspire and motivate our students every day! From May 7-11 we would like to show our thanks and gratitude by joining the rest of the country in honoring our teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week.

Book Fair
May 11- 18

Your children will have the opportunity to attend with their class  during our fair and at other open times, as well. Our Spring fair is a  much smaller event than our Fall fair, with no special events but a  GREAT opportunity to stock up on great new books to prevent the
dreaded "summer slide."  Remember, all purchases benefit our school. See you at the Book Fair!

Cougar Cart - now open

The Cougar Cart is a new mobile store, sponsored by the PTO, that will be open to everyone starting this week. The cart will offer a variety of items to make life a little easier, including snacks, school supplies, small gifts and school spirit items.  You can find the cart in the hallway by the office every morning between 7:45-7:55 and it will be available to students during regular Scrip office hours and  other designated times to be determined. Summer Reading and Math Camp
June 11-15

Our Summer Reading and Math Camp is scheduled for June 11 - 15.  The registration form can be found here:  Reading & Math Camp Registration

Talent Show 
May 18, 2018

Our annual Talent Show will be on May 18th.  Here are the guidelines for students wanting to participate in the show: 

 

Performers must be in the 4th - 8th grade.

All performers must try out.
Singers must have a Karaoke version of the music.
Remember this is a Catholic school so all performances and songs must reflect that.
Only 8th graders may perform skits.
If props are being used the performer must have them at the time of try outs and rehearsal.
Try outs will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
Dress rehearsal on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
The talent show will be on Friday, May 18, 2018.
Performers must have music and routine ready on date of try outs.
Each performer must have a signed permission slip to participate.

The permission slip  is due to the office by Friday May 4, 2018

Vacation Bible School 
June 18 - 22, 8:30 - Noon

Venture onto an uncharted island where kids survive and thrive. Anchor kids in the truth that Jesus carries them through life's storms. Each day at Shipwrecked VBS, kids travel through faith-building rotations that reinforce relevant Bible Points and imm
erse kids in new adventures.

Our Bible verse focus for the month of May is :  Proverbs 3:6

"In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight." 

Our prayer focus is the Hail Mary.
