Join the West Park WOW on June 27

Have you joined the new summer program called "West Park Walk on Wednesdays" (West Park WOW)?  It happens on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month throughout the summer. The walks begin at 6:30 p.m. in front of a new location each time.

The next one is on June 27, and begins at the Kamm's Corners Development Corporation (KCDC) Office Building,17407 Lorain Avenue. Steve Lorenz, KCDC Executive Director, will lead the group to West Park Massotherapy, 4168 Rocky River Drive. Then the group will end at Working Class Brewery, 17448 Lorain Avenue, in Kamms Plaza. Round trip, this walk covers about 1.2 miles on level ground.

Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, the West Park Family YMCA, Kamm's Corners Development, and the local merchants have come together to encourage exercise while educating local residents on subjects of interest as well as introducing them to local merchants they may not have visited. Already the walks are attracting a wide range of residents interested in learning more about their neighborhood while meeting some neighbors and achieving fitness goals.

Apply Now to March in the Kiwanis Club of West Park Independence Day Parade

Fifty years ago, on July 4, 1968, a troop of Cub Scouts paraded down West Park sidewalks. The following year, they were joined by local Boy Scouts. Eventually their annual parade grew so large that help was needed. That's when the Kiwanis Club of West Park stepped in. Under the leadership of a popular Kamm's Corners merchant, Howard Schreibman, the parade moved from side streets onto the middle of Lorain Avenue. Now in its 31st year under Kiwanis leadership, the parade is bigger than ever! It takes place on Wednesday, July 4, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Click here for the parade application or call Herb Hampson with questions at 216-287-3871.
