5th Grade Students Create the "Green Team"
After learning about ecosystems and how humans can impact environments and organisms, a group of 5th graders created the Green Team. This student-led organization has taken initiative to collect plastic utensils, plastic containers, plastic bottles, glass bottles, and aluminum cans during recess and lunch. The organization is composed of various branches: recyclable collectors, construction workers, schedulers, treasurers, the exchange team, washers, sorters, and alternate officers. Each branch has its own responsibilities and duties. The plastic utensils and containers are recycled, and the bottles and cans are exchanged for money.

The group has chosen to donate all of the proceeds to Children's Hospital of Orange County. The 5th grade teachers are so proud of this entirely student-created group and its dedication to this important cause. If you would like to drop off plastic bottles, aluminum cans, or glass bottles to Ms. Schonfeld's room (Room 29), the Green Team would be elated! These students are determined to make a difference!

Junior Kindergarten/Kindergarten Music Program
We have the cutest kiddos in the whole world (OK, in the JK/K world)! Mrs. Beilman worked her magic again and got 70 5-year-olds and 6-year-olds to sing beautifully and harmoniously! Our junior kindergarten and kindergarten students were so amazing and sang every song perfectly with every hand motion, and it was darling. Parents, you should be so proud of these little guys and girls!

Check out the pictures from the program! You can also watch the program on YouTube and download it on Vimeo.

We are especially proud that, for the first time this season, Fairmont Anaheim Hills took home the "percentage wins" school award, a rather impressive feat for such a large (and young) squad.

  • States should not be permitted to create campaign-free zones at polling places.
  • Reptiles should not be kept as pets.

Armed Security Guard on Every Fairmont Campus
The decision has been made by our Fairmont Private Schools senior leadership team to employ armed guards at all Fairmont campuses.

Fairmont has engaged Total Protection Group to assign these armed security guards at the campuses throughout the entire school day to help ensure the safety of our students and faculty and staff members. The officers will supplement the existing safety measures that are already in place at each campus.

At Fairmont Private Schools, we are committed to take all necessary measures to make sure that everyone on campus remains safe and secure in our schools. It is imperative that whenever anyone learns of a potential safety threat he or she immediately notifies the school and the Anaheim Police Department. As a community, we all need to remain vigilant and work together to ensure the safety of our students and employees.

The officers from Total Protection Group are fully certified and well-trained. The Total Protection security guard training and certification includes criminal background checks, psychological reviews, weapon training, weapon recertification, drug testing, CPR training, active threat response training, and active shooter training. Each guard's sidearm is securely kept in a Level 3 retention holster.

Over spring break, Dr. Rafferty had the opportunity to meet with our armed security guard, Officer Josh, and two of his superiors from Total Protection Group. They spent two hours together touring the campus and syncing up. We are in very good hands.

Moms and dads, when you have the opportunity, please introduce yourself to Officer Josh if you have not done so already. You will see him in a gray uniform with patches on both sleeves at the shoulders.

All students have been formally introduced to Officer Josh and know that he is here to help keep us safe and secure and that they should not touch his sidearm.

Table Hockey with Dr. Rafferty
Saturday, April 14, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am
Join us for some FREE fun for two hours this Saturday morning ---   a great day for table hockey! These will be five-minute audio-timed games, and a trophy will be awarded to the top player of the day!

Moms and dads: You have three options. We strongly suggest Option 1, but you're free to choose the option that works best for you:
  1. Stay to play table hockey.
  2. Stay to hang out with some of your fellow Fairmont Anaheim Hills parents.
  3. Sign in your child(ren), and then return at 11:00 am so that you can use two hours of your morning to run errands or for anything else you wish.

Important Notes from Campus Director's Update
Congratulations! We have all noticed a marked improvement in the uniform compliance since returning from spring break. Keep up the great work!
As of APRIL 9: FAIRMONT DRESS CODE ---   UNIFORMS AND HAIR STYLES

Book Lovers Workshops
Do you love reading? Be sure to check out our new summer classes offered at Fairmont Anaheim Hills for all of our insatiable readers. Mrs. Harmon (AHC) and Ms. Harmon (HAC) will lead both workshops.

Book Lovers Workshop Session 1
Grades 3 ---     5
July 16 ---   19 at Fairmont Anaheim Hills
Monday ---   Thursday from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm
$200 (minimum of 10 students)

Grades 3 ---     5

At each workshop, students will share their love of books and reading with each other through both independent reading and literary-based games and activities. In addition to reading, they will hone their creative writing skills by composing book reviews and recommendations in a variety of fun and interesting ways, including crafting alternate endings to their favorite stories and writing postcards from characters' points of view.

Students will be part of a fun and safe online community in which they can explore new books and share their favorites with friends. Additionally, they will step outside of their books with fun activities that might include exploring a book-tasting menu, going on an Amazing Literacy Race, solving a crime scene mystery, or using their critical-thinking skills to free themselves from an Escape Room. Activities will differ in each session, so students who want to double their fun can enroll in both sessions.

Writer's Workshops
Writers and non-writers unite! Have you ever thought about a cool story and couldn't figure out how to put it together on paper? Have you ever experienced something and couldn't quite describe it well? Here's your opportunity to hone those abilities! Students in our writing workshops will engage in a two-week process to conceptualize, plan, draft, publish, and illustrate completed works of literary art. We will dive into different stories, learning about the writing styles of various authors and scavenging the treasure troves of word choice to expand our schema of words. Critical thinking, problem solving, perspective shifts, and research skills are only a handful of the concepts that we will learn and intertwine throughout these two weeks.

Fairmont Prep IBP Students Learn from Leaders at Oracle
The Fairmont Prep International Baccalaureate (IB) Business and Management class visited Oracle in Irvine on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Oracle provides leading-edge capabilities in software as a platform, infrastructure, and data service. Oracle is the industry leader in banking, communications, logistics, retail, financial services, and engineering, to name a handful.

The students were excited to have Oracle Vice President of Development Reza B'Far provide a tour of the facility, during which students were able to meet other executives and engineers from the company. Mr. B'Far kept our International Business Program (IBP) students engaged and educated them on how Oracle, an American multinational computer technology corporation, has sustained success throughout the years.
