All the Best!

We wish faculty member Mrs. Ruth Seggerson all the best in her retirement after 35 years of service at St. Francis DeSales High School.

Mrs. Seggerson was hired as an English teacher at DeSales in 1982. She switched over to the social studies department in the 1990s where she has taught ever since. During the last several years, she has served as the chair of the social studies department and taught American Government and AP Government & Politics to seniors.

Throughout her career at SFD, Ruth has served as the Mock Trial team adviser, Moot Court team adviser, St. Vincent DePaul Club Adviser, Youth To Youth Club Adviser, Faculty Advisory Board member, JV Girls Basketball coach, Freshmen Girls Volleyball coach, and Kairos retreat leader. She was also on the committee that wrote the application for second Blue Ribbon Award.

Ruth and her husband, Larry, have three children who are all alumni of St. Francis DeSales High School: Sam, class of 2003, Sean, class of 2005, and Nell, class of 2009.

Alums in The Navigators Play at Columbus Commons

Steve King (Class of 1968) and his brother, Tim (Class of 1969) are members of a band called The Navigators. The Navigators will be performing at the Columbus Commons on Friday, June 22 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.   This show is free.

The Navigators play classic songs from the 60's through the 80's in virtually every genre of that era (Beatles, Stones, Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Petty, Springsteen etc).  Along with the core rock & roll band, the Navigators also feature a 6 piece horn section that lets them play great Motown songs as well as songs by Chicago.

The band is dedicated to having fun with their friends while helping others who are in need. They have been playing together since 2002, taking nothing at all as compensation, and have helped to raise over $500,000 to help local and national charities. The Columbus Food Bank has a special place in their hearts. The band still does occasional shows in Columbus area bars but, more and more, have done public events at Columbus Commons, Bicentennial Park, Rock for Hunger (at various outdoor venues in the Arena District) and other venues.

Enjoy some live music while supporting fellow SFD alumni!
