On Thursday, March 21, 2019, the Pittsburg Unified School District (“District”) and the Pittsburg Education Association (“PEA”) had their third bargaining session for the 2018-2019 contract. The articles discussed at the table were: 
  • Article 6 – Hours of Employment
  • Article 11– Safety Conditions
  • Article 12 – Employee Benefits
  • Article 13 – Salary 
PEA's current salary proposal includes a 4.5% on-schedule increase for all members retroactive to July 1, 2018 and a salary schedule restructure for psychologists, speech and language pathologists, behaviorists and preschool teachers. The District's current salary proposal includes a 1% on-schedule increase for all members retroactive to July 1, 2018, and a salary schedule restructure for psychologists and speech and language pathologists. The Distric t also provided PEA information about student enrollment, the District’s Second Interim Report , and a report by School Services of California, Inc . that shows how the District ranks in total compensation for certificated employees, compared to other Contra Costa School Districts.

The session on Thursday between the two parties was productive. The District appreciates the negotiations teams and the preparation put into the session.
