Our vision is to have a community where no kittens are born wild on the street, no cat  capable of living in a home is lacking one, and no feral cats are wanting for food, water,  and appropriate care and concern.

Support our Cat Crisis Fund and help sick or injured cats

Dianna S. contacted SAFCC about E.T., one of her colony cats. This poor guy had been getting thinner and thinner but his belly was getting larger. E.T. went to Callaghan Road Animal Hospital and we hoped he was just suffering from a bad case of worms. Unfortunately Dr Evans advised us that E.T. had a huge liver tumor.

E.T. was put to rest this week so that he would no longer be in pain. Dianna was very grateful SAFCC was able to ease E.T.'s suffering thanks to our Cat Crisis Fund, which helps Good Samaritans or colony caretakers with vet bills when they find sick or injured cats.

In 2017, SAFCC spent $9,273 to help 72 sick or injured cats or to provide compassionate euthanasia. Without SAFCC and our Cat Crisis Fund, many of these unowned outside cats would continue to suffer. If you want to help SAFCC ease the suffering of sick or injured cats like E.T., please consider a donation and give HERE.
78217 PetSmart Charities Grant

We want to thank PetSmart Charities for the grant that ended March 31 and funded 499 spay/neuter surgeries in the 78217 zip code. This zip code was chosen because it had the largest number of cats                                                                             reported by our helpline last year.

Thank you to all the 78217 trappers that worked diligently to trap so many cats! Hopefully, thanks to your work, you are seeing fewer kittens in your neighborhoods.
Kitten season is now. Spread the word about TNR

Kitten season is in full swing and as a result, most of our helpline calls are in reference to kittens. This is sad as there are not  enough fosters in San Antonio to rescue them all. The solution is simple: we need more TNR and more trappers to reduce the suffering of these outside cats and kittens.

If you know someone that needs to TNR their colony, let them know about our free TNR classes. If you have already taken our class, please share our message and help where you can.

We could use more trappers on our Trapper Team. If you like to trap and would like to get paid to trap for those who are unable or would like to know more, email us.

Thanks to everyone out there who is doing TNR - you are making a difference and you will be the difference!

SAFCC celebrates Earth Day 2018

There was a great turnout at the City of San Antonio's Earth Day Event in April. This is an event SAFCC regularly attends to get the word out about TNR. SAFCC volunteers were there and passed out a lot of literature, sold fiesta medals, gave out biodegradable, earth-friendly cat toys and about 4 dozen "cats-carones" in celebration of Fiesta. These toys were hand made by SAFCC volunteers and were enjoyed immensely!

Thanks to William Day and Leslie Butterworth (pictured) for helping at this event, and also to Monica and Dawn Tiger.

Career Day Event

SAFCC board member Monica Caballero and volunteer Kathy Benson had fun at "Career Day" at Bellaire Elementary School. They talked about TNR and responsible cat ownership. Monica, in her cat suit, ensured they  will remember what they learned about community cats, and we appreciated being able to reach kids at a young age.

We always need event volunteers. If you'd like to help out at SAFCC events and can speak about TNR, please email us HERE
