Guest Organist
This weekend, Alan Wittrup will be joining us to rehearse with the choir and provide music for the service on Sunday.
After completing his Master's Degree in piano, Alan played organ for churches in the Washington D.C. area, worked with various theater and opera companies, accompanied singers and choruses, composed, arranged, recorded, and taught privately and at universities. His alternate career in computers took him to Europe for 18 years where his musical participation slowed but did not stop. He retired from computers and returned to the US a couple years ago to live in Scituate, MA  with his wife Shannon and two teenaged sons, where he is resuming his musical activities and attempting to finish the book he has been toying with for decades.
Vestry Update
Sunday, April 15th at 11:30am in the Chapel

Music Director Update
The Music Director Search Committee is pleased to announce that our new music director/organist will be joining us on June 3. We look forward to welcoming Joe!
Joe Hammer, in many respects, has enjoyed a dual-track career over the course of his professional working career…that of a musician and a fund raiser.

Joe entered Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana, as an organ major, graduating with a bachelor’s in communications and music. Upon completion of his master’s degree, also from Ball State and immediately after earning his undergraduate degree, Joe worked in the not-for-profit sector in Indianapolis. He moved to New York City during the late ‘80s, working primarily in non-profit special event fund raising.

He and his family relocated from New York City to Indianapolis in 2008, where he continued his non-profit fund raising work with a museum and an educational foundation. In 2015, he joined the staff of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra; he retired from         full-time fund raising in 2016.

Throughout his fund raising career, Joe continued to play the organ and sing in a number of choirs, including at the Riverside Church and Church of the Holy Trinity Episcopal in New York, St. John's Episcopal Church, Forest Hills, Queens, the First Presbyterian Church as organist in Sag Harbor, New York, and as Director of Music and Organist for the First Congregational Church (UCC) in Exeter, New Hampshire. In Indianapolis, he served as Director of Music and Organist for St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and as interim music director and organist for St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church.

Joe comes to St. Paul’s from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Granville, Ohio (home of Denison University), where he has served as organist. Joe and his partner, John Howish, have two adult daughters, both of whom reside in Indianapolis. John is an RN at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Indianapolis. John and the girls look forward to visiting Nantucket frequently.

Respectfully submitted,
Malcolm MacNab, chair
Deborah Beale

St Paul’s Needlepoint Rug 2018
It is exciting this year to dedicate our beautiful rug to George Fowlkes with love and appreciation. George has been a dedicated stitcher of many rugs for years and has stitched several glorious pieces of needlepoint for St Paul’s .the lovely piano bench and also underwrote and stitched with others the needlepoint rug of the beautiful tiffany windows over the altar.

Our nine wonderful devoted stichers this year are Yvette St. Jean, Caroline Ellis, Jeanette Fowlkes, Sheila Daume, Nancy Bills, Bay McClure, Mary Jo Beck, Eugenie Voorhees and Penny Macintyre. I am truly grateful to all of them for their many hours of stitching !! The rug will be on Main St in June thru the summer.

This yearly fundraising project and its success is dependent on the generous underwriting from our parishioners . Please consider supporting us … please make notation that your donation is for the needlepoint project .
Thank you
Sheila Daume

HELP WANTED

The Fair date has been set – Thursday, July 12 – but some of the key leadership jobs to make this year’s Fair happen and a success are open.

Gift Chalet
Join the team to run our most popular event, the sale of the best of the best gifts, art and antiques. Organize, price, stage and sell those special items. Set up begins around June 20.

Hodge Podge
Manage and organize the “everything” area - household items, sporting goods, a little of this and a little of that.

Silent Auction
Everyone can help with this. Do you have (or know someone who does) tickets to a sports event, a concert or a special occasion? If you have special skill or service (landscaping, computer consulting, counseling, catering, etc.), will you donate an hour or two of it? Do you know a restaurant owner who might donate a gift certificate for dinner, a boat owner who might agree to take someone on an hour’s sail, a chef who would give a cooking lesson, or a golfer who would donate a round of golf at one of the clubs (VERY POPULAR ITEM). Do you have (or know someone who does) a vacation home, condo, or cottage at which you could donate a week’s stay? Do you have a great idea for an auction item we haven’t thought of?

Please everyone help out on this.

How big, how small, how successful the 2018 Fair will depend on volunteers – it depends on you.
