YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Question: If students return to school in a hybrid model, will there be any changes to the dress code?
Answer: There will be no changes to the dress code at this time.
Question: Can you please summarize the return-to-school plans?
Answer: If the pandemic conditions are favorable, GLOBE plans to have teachers return to campus beginning January 4, 2021, with reentry of elementary students beginning January 19, 2021. Given the challenges of navigating the small hallways and classrooms, as well as widely varied schedules of our middle schoolers, all 6th-8th graders will continue with remote instruction until it is safe for them to return to the building. A virtual option will remain available for families who prefer not to return to campus. Elementary students who will return to campus will do so two days a week (M/Tu OR Th/F), with virtual instruction on the remaining three days. Considerations are being made for famliies with more than one elementary student so that siblings can attend school on the same days; however, given the constraints on class sizes to maintain physical distancing, it will not be possible for families to choose whether to attend M/Tu or Th/F.
Question: Will the current ECP arrangement remain in place and will GLOBE offer aftercare?
Answer: We will have ECP for aftercare available for those that are in school that day, but at this point we are not sure whether we'll have the space to offer all-day care for students on the other three days.
Question: How will mask usage be enforced?
Answer: All members of the GLOBE community will be required to wear a mask (no buffs) at all times, except when eating. If students do not have their masks covering their mouth and nose, teachers will remind them to put their mask on properly; however, students who consistently have difficulty keeping their masks on will be sent home. For this reason, please have your child(ren) practice wearing a mask for an extended period of time to ensure that they are ready to help keep their teachers and classmates healthy.
Question: It is important for children to be able to see how words are formed in the target language - will teachers have masks that will allow students to see their mouths?
Answer: All teachers will be required to wear a mask of their choice while on campus. If teachers wish to use a mask that has a transparent panel, they are welcome to do so.
