HEY
GLOBE
COMMUNITY
This is the best resource for staying in the know.
Dear GLOBE Community,

Please support our school this week by shopping our LC GLOBE Scholastic Fall Book Fair. To celebrate our love for reading, the PTCC is also organizing a daily prize drawing for one Scholastic book (value up to $20) per day. LC students interested in participating will watch a short video (posted on the PTCC and the Parents and Teachers at Globe Facebook pages) and submit a drawing via a google form or by posting it on the daily Facebook post to enter the drawing.
Links will be posted daily each morning.

2nd Graders are eligible to enter the drawing on today, December 2nd.
3rd Graders are eligible to enter the drawing on Thursday, December 3rd.
One entry per student. Entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on the day that corresponds to your child’s grade.

And don’t forget to visit our Book Fair homepage and to click “shop now” to get started:
The COVID Corner
As we prepare guidance to inform a safe return, we want to hear from you and address your questions in this section each week. If you have questions that have not been addressed, please submit them here.  Thank you to those of you who have already submitted your questions! We are doing our best to answer as many of these as we can each week. If you haven’t seen a response to your question yet, stay tuned for upcoming newsletters! Please understand that due to the dynamic nature of the pandemic, there may be questions for which we do not yet have answers, or situations that may change between now and January.

While we are closely following DeKalb County School District’s planning, GLOBE’s plans for a return-to-campus will be based on the recommendations of our independently run reopening committee to meet the needs of our community and academic dual-language immersion model.

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Question: If students return to school in a hybrid model, will there be any changes to the dress code?

Answer: There will be no changes to the dress code at this time.

Question: Can you please summarize the return-to-school plans?

Answer: If the pandemic conditions are favorable, GLOBE plans to have teachers return to campus beginning January 4, 2021, with reentry of elementary students beginning January 19, 2021. Given the challenges of navigating the small hallways and classrooms, as well as widely varied schedules of our middle schoolers, all 6th-8th graders will continue with remote instruction until it is safe for them to return to the building. A virtual option will remain available for families who prefer not to return to campus. Elementary students who will return to campus will do so two days a week (M/Tu OR Th/F), with virtual instruction on the remaining three days. Considerations are being made for famliies with more than one elementary student so that siblings can attend school on the same days; however, given the constraints on class sizes to maintain physical distancing, it will not be possible for families to choose whether to attend M/Tu or Th/F.

Question: Will the current ECP arrangement remain in place and will GLOBE offer aftercare?

Answer: We will have ECP for aftercare available for those that are in school that day, but at this point we are not sure whether we'll have the space to offer all-day care for students on the other three days.

Question: How will mask usage be enforced?

Answer: All members of the GLOBE community will be required to wear a mask (no buffs) at all times, except when eating. If students do not have their masks covering their mouth and nose, teachers will remind them to put their mask on properly; however, students who consistently have difficulty keeping their masks on will be sent home. For this reason, please have your child(ren) practice wearing a mask for an extended period of time to ensure that they are ready to help keep their teachers and classmates healthy.

Question: It is important for children to be able to see how words are formed in the target language - will teachers have masks that will allow students to see their mouths?

Answer: All teachers will be required to wear a mask of their choice while on campus. If teachers wish to use a mask that has a transparent panel, they are welcome to do so.
