1st and 2nd Grade Students Channel Their Inner Animals
Our 1st and 2nd grade students had their spring musicals the week before spring break. Our 1st graders performed "E-I-E-I Oops!" The students dressed as the cutest farm animals you've ever seen! They also sang "Ham It Up," "Lost Sheep," and "Cute Chicks" to tell of life on the farm.

After a wonderful Indian folk dance from Aneesh S. and Angad S., our 2nd graders took the stage. Wearing costumes from every breed of dog you can imagine, they told what it is like living the dog's life in "Aarf!"

It is so wonderful to see our students so enthusiastic about music! We all love seeing them put on these wonderful shows!

Penny Wars
The Fairmont Parent Association will hold its annual community outreach to benefit the Anaheim Police K-9 Association by sponsoring Penny Wars. Penny Wars will kick off on Wednesday, April 11, and will conclude on Wednesday, April 25. The class that fills up its jar most quickly will win a treat from the FPA. Additionally, the class that brings in the most pennies and raises the most money will win a treat. Remember, only pennies count positively in your child's classroom jar. All other money denominations will count negatively. Just a hint: Put that money into a rival classroom's jar. Heehee! :)

Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten Field Trips
Our junior kindergarten and kindergarten students will venture out on exciting field trips next week. Our JK students will travel to Centennial Farms, where they will participate in the junior farmer tour, which can include planting radishes, holding baby chicks, and seeing livestock animals. Our kindergarten students will go to Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary, where they will visit the National Science Center and go on a guided learning walk during which they will identify and investigate various plants and animals along the way. Please make sure your child has turned in a signed Centennial Farms permission slip or Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary permission slip to his or her teacher, otherwise your student will not be able to attend the trip.

Book Lovers Workshops
Do you love reading? Be sure to check out our new summer classes offered at Fairmont Anaheim Hills for all of our insatiable readers. Mrs. Harmon (AHC) and Ms. Harmon (HAC) will lead both workshops.

Book Lovers Workshop Session 1
Grades 3 ---     5
July 16 ---   19 at Fairmont Anaheim Hills
Monday ---   Thursday from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm
$200 (minimum 10 students)
Book Lovers Workshop Session 2
Grades 3 ---     5
July 23 ---     26 at Fairmont Anaheim Hills
Monday ---   Thursday from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm
$200 (minimum 10 students)

At each workshop, students will share their love of books and reading with each other through both independent reading and literary-based games and activities. In addition to reading, they will hone their creative writing skills by composing book reviews and recommendations in a variety of fun and interesting ways, including crafting alternate endings to their favorite stories and writing postcards from characters' points of view.

Students will be part of a fun and safe online community in which they can explore new books and share their favorites with friends. Additionally, they will step outside of their books with fun activities that might include exploring a book-tasting menu, going on an Amazing Literacy Race, solving a crime scene mystery, or using their critical-thinking skills to free themselves from an Escape Room. Activities will differ in each session, so students who want to double their fun can enroll in both sessions.

Bananas Over Reading
At Fairmont Private Schools, we know that reading is definitely not monkey business ---   it's beneficial to all students and is also a tremendous amount of FUN!

Join us at Fairmont Anaheim Hills on Saturday, May 5, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm for a wonderful family event filled with engaging story time, carnival games, snow cones, face painting, and an exciting opportunity for your child to take a photo with PBS KIDS character Curious George, as seen on PBS SoCal!

Because we believe that every child deserves to go bananas over reading, we are asking each family to bring a new book to the event to donate to the Children's Hospital of Orange County Family Resource Center. Space is limited, so RSVP today! Can't make the event? You can still participate in our book drive to benefit CHOC patients. Simply bring your donation of a new book to any of our Fairmont campuses.

Fairmont Prep IBP Students Learn from Leaders at Oracle
The Fairmont Prep International Baccalaureate (IB) Business and Management class visited Oracle in Irvine on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Oracle provides leading-edge capabilities in software as a platform, infrastructure, and data service. Oracle is the industry leader in banking, communications, logistics, retail, financial services, and engineering, to name a handful.

The students were excited to have Oracle Vice President of Development Reza B'Far provide a tour of the facility, during which students were able to meet other executives and engineers from the company. Mr. B'Far kept our International Business Program (IBP) students engaged and educated them on how Oracle, an American multinational computer technology corporation, has sustained success throughout the years.
