WHAT:  "You say bulbe, I say kartofl" - An Excursion through Yiddish Dialects (All-day Yiddish seminar)
WHO: Dr. Paul (Hershl) Glasser. Glasser has a doctorate from Columbia
University in Yiddish Linguistics. He  is a Yiddish linguist and translator, and co-editor-in-chief of the 
Comprehensive English-Yiddish Dictionary .

The famous "Gefilte Fish" line,  showing how seasoning of Sabbath fish corresponds to dialectal differences,  a concept articulated by linguist Mikhl Herzog . 
The seminar will focus on the Yiddish map with emphasis on differences in vocabulary. We will explore the following topics:

1. Western vs. Eastern Yiddish
2. Modern dialects
3. The perfect center of Yiddishland
4. "Artificial" dialects
