 What's the most important thing
investors need to know right now?

It's probably not what you'd expect.

You're probably expecting me to write something about the yield curve, Federal Reserve Bank interest rate policy, trade tariffs, or stock buybacks. All of those are very important and I've written tons about them. They matter - a LOT.

But there is something else that supersedes those topics. And it's personal. I'm talking about investor complacency. Specifically, your complacency.

So, let me ask you, are YOU a complacent investor? By that, I don't mean to ask if you're an aggressive or conservative investor. I mean to ask you if you've taken steps to understand how much risk you're taking in your investment portfolio. Do you expect stocks to rise over the next 10 years as much as in the last 10 years? If you're an aggressive investor and you lose a lot of money in a bear market, then fine, you've accepted that risk. My concern here is the investor who is not aggressive, but is not fully aware of how risky their portfolio has become because of the rising stock market since the Great Recession.

I've seen more investors get hurt by their own complacency (2000 and 2008) than from anything else. To answer this question - Are You a Complacent Investor? -  I've developed a rapid complacency test. It's only 4 quick, multiple-choice questions.

Take the test now and find out for yourself: The Rapid Complaceny Test

Now check out my post today on  CNBC logo about "Inverted Yield Curve" and what it means to you:  The biggest risk in the bond market isn't rising rates or Fed vs. Trump. It's the inverted yield curve.

Thank you for taking the time,
Mitch
