The League joins the Association of California Water Agencies and a large coalition of nearly 200 local water and public agencies to oppose the proposed water tax unless amended with an alternative funding source.

Conferences & Education

The League is currently soliciting session proposals for two conferences — the Municipal Finance Institute and the Fire Chiefs Leadership Seminar. Both conferences will be held Dec. 11–12 in Garden Grove at the Hyatt Regency Orange County.

Each year, the League of California Cities ® honors outstanding work in member cities throughout the state through the Helen Putnam Awards for Excellence.

Legislative hearings are well underway, and the Legislature continues discuss policy areas of interest to cities. Most hearings will be televised. The Senate and Assembly publish weekly television schedules, and audio is always available online. Many hearings are also webcast via the California Channel.
