A poem for Summer
(flowers are from a dear friend, John Malison)

this is the garden: colours come and go,
frail azures fluttering from night's outer wing
strong silent greens serenely lingering,
absolute lights like baths of golden snow.
this is the garden: pursed lips do blow
upon cool flutes within wide glooms, and sing
(of harps celestial to the quivering string)
invisible faces hauntingly and slow.
e. e. cummings (1894-1962)

Gail Whitney was presented with a raffle prize at our June party by Paul Johannsen (NPR CFO)
Hello dear friends and clients,

What a party! NPR threw an June office party for our clients and friends and it was so wonderful to see all your shining faces. I do love summer. It's a time to get out into our beautiful properties and really experience Montana. It's also a time when I get to re-connect with clients and friends who come to enjoy our glorious summers.

Bigfork's summer events range from the Bigfork Village Market to our Bigfork Performing Arts Center theater season...always popular and this year is no exception. Click here for performance schedule.  Come to Bigfork and enjoy!

Our real estate market continues be brisk. We expect that this time of year, however I am seeing even more action this year than last. Days on market are lower and sale prices are slightly up. All good news for sellers. For buyers, interest rates have leveled out and our local banks work well with new buyers coming into the area.

Kalispell continues to grow and the surrounding towns are all reporting a healthy business climate and lots of clients looking for property. Bigfork will be getting a parking lot soon and that will certainly help tourists navigate the village and stay a little longer. Our multiple listing service has brought all of western Montana together and it has proven to be a good thing, in my opinion.

It's an exciting and beautiful place to live so if
you are thinking of listing your property, or buying a property in Montana, my experience, record and expertise will successfully guide you through the negotiation process toward the right price. Call, text or email me. We'll have dinner  (I have an in with the local sushi place)!

See you soon and a
s always,  cheers!
Denise

Denise's Kitchen Corner...Southern Cheese Spread

r

Roasted Red Pepper Spread
(aka Pimento Cheese Spread)

After World War II, pimento cheese spread found its beginnings in New York, not the south. Home cooks started making their own  pimento cheese, swapping cream cheese for something called "hoop cheese" and then cheddar adding a dollop of  mayonnaise to bind it all together. From there it became a staple of church picnics, potlucks and even showed up at some of the South's finest restaurants. For those of you who are as old as I am, pimento cheese was a staple for parties, weddings and showers. Growing up in Florida, I remember, my grandmother made killer pimento cheese spread but with roasted bell peppers instead!

Roasted Red Pepper Spread
4-6 oz r oasted red bell peppers diced
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. finely grated yellow onion
1/4 tsp. cayenne  (or more)
1 8 oz block extra sharp yellow cheddar cheese shredded
1 8  oz block yellow cheddar cheese shredded

PREPARATION
In a large bowl, stir the peppers, mayonnaise, Worcestershire, onion and cayenne.  Stir in the cheeses until well combined.  The spread may be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to one week. Enjoy!

Denise's Book Corner

Co-written by James Patterson and Bill Clinton, The President is Missing has the usual Patterson flair of way out yet believable fiction. The twist with Clinton is that there are parallels that one can draw with his presidency and the main character in the book. I actually tried to avoid them and read the book as pure, fun fiction. This is a book that is a great "beach read." If, as a reader, you choose to infuse real life into this, then great. As for me, I read to learn, to escape and to relax.

It is about a rogue U.S. President, Jonathon Duncan, who faces impeachment for persistently escaping from the eyes of the Secret Service. His recent attempts to evade the public and private eye have been to have negotiations with an international terrorist. Duncan, determined that he is the only man with the insider information to stop an imminent cyber terror attack on the U.S., does whatever it takes to save the country.

He enters the tunnels beneath the White House, emerges in an underground Treasury Department parking garage, gets behind the wheel of a sedan and drives to the apartment of an old friend who helps him with a disguise. Then, the president attends a baseball game alone to meet with an unvetted informant who has information about the coming  cyber attack . There are several chase scenes
which give the first clue that the enemy is deep within the president's inner circle. Throughout the action, the question pervades...What does it mean to be an American today? I think this is a question worthy of asking.
