1,000,000

A Note From Pastor Linda

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat..." Matthew 25

Dear Friends,

1,000,000 (one million), or one thousand thousand, is the natural number following 999,999 and preceding 1,000,001. Million is sometimes used as a metaphor for a VERY large number, as in "Not in a million years" or "You're one in a million". Million is sometimes used as hyperbole, as in "I've walked a million miles" or "You've asked the million dollar question".

During the 2019 Lakes Area FMSC MobilePack hosted at Hosanna there is a HIGH likelihood that we will pack our 1-MILLIONTH meal... and that is not a metaphor nor hyperbole... it is TRUTH!!

However, we cannot do it without you.

It is FMSC's mission to feed God's starving children in body and spirit. The process is simple (sort of!). Donations are given by people just like you to fund the meal ingredients (this year we are raising over $65,000!). Volunteers hand-pack the meals- vitamins, veggies, soy and rice(we will need over 1500 people- and last time I looked, you were a people!) Meals are donated to FMSC food partners around the world, where kids are fed and lives are saved!

Efficiency matters:
  • Each meal costs less than 25 cents. Every volunteer packs about $50 of food in a 2 hour packing session.
  • $80 feeds a child for an entire year!
  • More than 90 percent of every dollar donated goes directly to feed kids.
  • More than 99 percent of FMSC meals have safely reached their intended destination.
  • FMSC consistently receives the highest awards for accountability and transparency from Charity Navigator.

How can you help?
  • Volunteer opportunities will open to the general public on April 1. We need you to register TODAY. A few packing sessions are getting close to capacity.             CLICK HERE  then click on +View Private Event- and use the access code: Lakes
  • Direct Donations are still needed to fund every meal that we will pack.             CLICK HERE  to make a donation directly to the Lakes Area FMSC MobilePack (this processes through FMSC) - or write a check to Hosanna with FMSC in the memo.
  • April 7 from 7-9pm at Stella's- join us at Beer and Hymns- a "spirited" fundraiser! An amazing evening of fun and fellowship ALL benefitting the Lakes Area FMSC MobilePack. Purchase advance tickets here
Turning HUNGER into HOPE with your own TWO HANDS! Together we can do this!

Be the CHURCH!

The Blessing of the Keys is one more way the faith community is helping to instruct and lead our youth. This milestone is open to all youth who have received their permit or driver's license in the last year.
Everyone knows a whole new world opens up for families when a child receives their driver's license. New expectations, new privileges, new freedoms, and new worries all come into play.  What better time to come together as a family to talk through the new expectations and privileges, as well as pray and ask for guidance.

During our workshop, participants will learn about the history of communion, partake in a sampling of Passover foods, bake bread and learn how to prepare for the sacrament itself. Parents/ Guardians or Godparents are asked to attend class with their child but the whole family is invited to join in.
