Seeking Book Club Vendors - Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) *
The Children's Trust seeks vendors to implement the Thrive by 5 Book Club to mail monthly books to children ages birth to five in Miami-Dade County. Services to be solicited include:

  • Book selection, buying and supplemental content creation
  • Fulfillment services
  • Ongoing operations and customer relations

Three New Features Available in Trust Central Contracts *

Feature 1. These arrows allow you to scroll between the previous contract on your list or to the next. 
Feature 2. The new drop-down menu (detail view below) allows for easy navigation through a program's contracts and modifications. It contains application and award (if recently awarded), contracts and amendments, fiscal year, status (pending, executed, etc.), and execution date.

Early Learning Educators: Professional Development Scholarships & Wage Supplements Available!
The Early Learning Career Center, funded by The Children's Trust, has opportunities for ALL early learning programs and educators in Miami-Dade County to access scholarships for professional development and wage supplements through the Child Care WAGE$® salary supplement program. Save the Date: Social Emotional Learning Program Quality Assessment
The Trust announces a special workshop for Trust-funded 6-12 youth development providers that will guide you in the interpretation of your program self-assessment and CAT observation data, offered on the three separate dates listed below. One representative from each provider agency MUST be present at one of the sessions; however, we strongly encourage that every relevant provider attend as a team of a program manager and up to four direct staff.

Injury Prevention Trainings
All Trust-funded providers are required to participate in childhood injury prevention capacity-building efforts facilitated by the Public Health Trust's Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Miami. Project RISE will pilot “Homework Assistance,” a peer learning workshop for youth development staff to practice skills learned in the online “Intro to Homework Assistance.” Taking place on Tuesday, April 16, 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., NSU Miramar. Advocacy Network on Disabilities: Upcoming Trainings

  • Introduction to Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Part 1 - ONLINE This online course provides program staff with introductory information about autism spectrum disorder, including definitions and various ways in which these conditions may manifest. Content also includes information about helping youth meet behavioral expectations, recognizing and accommodating those with sensory sensitivities, assisting youth with fostering social competence, addressing bullying and ensuring a safe environment.
  • Discovering Inclusion Training - ONLINE Discovering Inclusion is an introductory workshop for staff with little or no previous knowledge about children and youth with disabilities and inclusion. It includes an introduction to various types of disabilities, identifying the benefits of inclusion for all, using People First Language and respectful etiquette, and the characteristics of an inclusive program. There is also an opportunity to explore personal beliefs and values.

Grant Writing Workshop *
Designed for educators and not-for-profit professionals, this FREE workshop, presented by Dana Fredebaugh, Ph.D., Nova Southeastern University, will provide an overview of the methods, concepts and tools used for winning grant funding. Change the Life of a Child in Foster Care *
Florida Foster Care Review, which advances the safety, stability and success of abused and neglected children, youth and young adults by connecting them to essential services, healthy relationships and forever families, seeks caring citizens from the community to volunteer one weekday a month for a minimum of one year to serve on its Citizen Review Panel (CRP); volunteers must be at least 25 years old. The CRP reviews active, judge-referred child welfare court cases at the Children's Courthouse, and your participation as a CRP member means that you can directly and positively impact the life of a child or youth in foster care. Nurturing Parenting Facilitator Training *
This three-day training, offered in English and Spanish, will focus on understanding the philosophy of nurturing parenting; assessing high-risk parenting beliefs and environments; creating competency-based parenting lessons and programs tailored to meet the individual parenting needs of families; and implementing programs at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of prevention. Attention Nonprofits: Share Your Change-Making Ideas to Get Funded!
United Way of Miami-Dade announces year two of Inspire305, a funding initiative that activates solutions for innovators, change-makers and emerging philanthropic leaders to propel change in our community. Two new grant opportunities are available - a $25,000 Grand Innovator award and a $10,000 Trailblazer award; selected finalists will be put to a public vote and pitch their nonprofit at a culminating Inspire305 event in May.   • Research & Evaluation Analyst To serve as a critical member of both cross- and interdepartmental teams who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to particular child, youth and family program areas and populations. Primary responsibilities include the identification and critical review of evidence-based/best practices in specified program areas; assistance for funded service providers and Trust staff on development of program performance measures; oversight of reporting methods for capturing program performance; regular appraisal of basic program performance statistics and data analyses; contribution to reports that explain initiative results to a variety of audiences; and systems enhancement to ensure accountability. This exempt salaried position works under general supervision and support of a senior research and evaluation analyst.
