Meet in the Fellowship Hall at First Immanuel from 10:10 am - 10:30 am each Sunday morning. You can get your questions answered or get a sneak peek at the sermon of that day. It is an informal Q&A-based discussion, so bring your questions and your sermon outline!

  REACHING OUT IN SERVICE
JUNE MISSION OF THE MONTH

First Immanuel Teens To Provide Hurricane Relief

On September 20, 2017 Hurricane Maria obliterated large portions of the island of Puerto Rico. Immense devastation impacted over 1 million residents of Puerto Rico. Even now the island continues to rebuild as electricity has finally been restored to the majority of the island within the last month. While the tourist areas are open for business, many of the coastal towns are struggling with the aftermath of the hurricane.

On July 7th, a team of 12 teenagers and 6 adults from First Immanuel Cedarburg will travel to help island residents rebuild their homes and lives. The team will help individual families with specific projects repairing and replacing personal property destroyed by the hurricane. The team is raising $3,000 to purchase materials for the rebuilding effort and will contribute over 680 hours of labor.

The group from First Immanuel will stay at a local church in one of 3 coastal towns where families have the most need. Immersed in a new culture, experiencing local foods, and interacting with a Spanish-speaking community, the teens and adults will experience genuine Puerto Rican culture.  While this is a mission of mercy and repair, there will also be practical opportunities to care for the community, and show care and compassion through words and actions. The team will also be challenged to grow individually as they serve and observe a different way of life.

Thank you for prayerfully considering giving to this Mission of Mercy to Puerto Rico. Please use the green Mission of the Month envelopes to contribute or give online at filministries.org

THANK YOU
How do I thank you for allowing me to teach our most precious earthly asset, our kids! Oh, the fun I have had since our first computer lab of 9 or 10 Apple 2-e’s squeezed into the end of the health room- library-computer lab. Algebra has met in 10 locations since 1989 starting in a cloakroom under the Victoria Ct. stairs. How was I to know that “my” desk was really “our” desk used for selling game tickets and stacks of coats? But it’s time for 21st-century teachers, new techniques, innovative strategies for that old, timeless, & never-changing algebra, that foundation for all math and science which follows.
Thank you, FIL members, for your extremely generous retirement gift. I truly appreciate your years of support and kindness. I treasure this journey with you and our Savior, one filled with blessings I did not know existed, and I look forward to new opportunities to serve. Thank you! In His service, Barb Meyer
