Dear Friends and Neighbors:

Houston Public Works has committed to providing periodic updates on the Memorial Drive Reconstruction Project (Kirkwood to Eldridge), WBS #N-000798-0001-4.

Below is the first of these updates:

Completed work (week of July 9, 2018)
  • Water line repairs were completed and water service restored at 14900 Memorial Drive
  • Concrete paving at Memorial & Kirkwood on the southeast corner completed
  • Hot mix asphalt transition at Memorial & Kirkwood completed
  • Continued working on 48-inch storm sewer at 14900 Memorial
Ongoing work (week of July 16 and July 23, 2018)
  • Continue work on 48-inch storm sewer at 14900 Memorial
  • Traffic switch northbound lanes at Kirkwood and Memorial will switch to eastbound
  • Traffic switch Memorial & Nottingham Oaks - will maintain one lane southbound and one lane northbound at Nottingham Oaks
  • Begin water line at Kirkwood, north of Memorial. Notifications will be sent out to communicate any water service disruptions 48 hours in advance
  • Continue paving on Kirkwood, south of Memorial
The contractor plans to be completely out of the Memorial @ Kirkwood intersection by August 27, 2018, the start of the new school year.  Council Member Travis has asked the contractor to do whatever it takes to be done by then, whether it means working seven days a week, or 24-hours a day at the northwest and southwest corners of this intersection.  Council Member Travis understands that residents in the area have severe construction fatigue, and the last thing anyone wants is to have this intersection still under construction in the new school year.

The current substantial completion date is January 14, 2019.

Remember if you have issues or concerns regarding this construction project, please contact 311 and provide the project name ( Memorial Drive Reconstruction Project), the number (WBS #N-000798-0001-4) and the address where your issue or concern is located.  Ask 311 personnel to direct your issue to Capital Projects.  This allows District G staff to track your concerns and make sure there is a record of them.
