Greetings!

Happy New Year!

It is now the time in which the number 2021 is with us. Each day is always a day like other days when boiled down to cold facts. However, as months change or years change, we realize that the time which we’re enjoying now is so precious.

In the past year, everyone without exception had many difficulties because of the pandemic which we had never experienced before. As it was so bad, Time magazine declared that the year 2020 was “the worst year ever.” I also couldn’t stop sighing while I was looking back over the past year. Though I’ve been running the cleaners over 30 years, it was more difficult than any other year and beyond comparison. Checking over expenditures and revenues in a year, only sighs of anxiety and despair came out.

But, believe it or not, a thought and word which I’m trying to hold on to tightly without loosening despite of continuous sighs is none other than gratitude.

Sales went down drastically to less than half of the normal and there’s no sign of bouncing back. In fact, it is expected to continue to be like that for a significant time even this year, too. Nevertheless, the reasons why I keep a firm hold on gratitude are: first, because my wife and I can work in good health even now; and because my wife and I are living in hope of better tomorrows, though we have so many worries now like last year.

Health is for what we should be always cautious and stay alert. But things don’t always work out the way we want. So, I live holding a thought of gratitude for being healthy day after day.

I think that hope is the strength with which we can overcome the difficulties and pains of yesterday and today. So, I feel grateful for today in which I live in hope. When I reach the thought that hope doesn’t come to me by itself, but it is what I should go and grasp, the strength of gratitude becomes even bigger.

Year 2021, it is a brand new time for all of us.

I’d like share with you the words: the sun and hope have no owner who possesses them for his/her own, but do belong to anyone who embraces them.
I wish you a very happy new year. I also wish and hope that continuous laughter and joy will be with you this year.

From your cleaners.
Sincerely,
Young Kim
