MAY 2018

Greetings!

On April 26, the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities marked the 300th day in our fiscal year.  Earlier that week, we reached a new record: the 300th program facilitated by VCIC staff since July 1!  That's right: over 300 programs delivered in 300 days.

This remarkable milestone is made even more significant because of the quality feedback VCIC receives from these programs for schools, businesses, and communities all across Virginia.  Here is just a sampling that has come to our office in the last few weeks:
  • "Thanks so much for taking the time to put together such an amazing training!  It's only been a week, but I've already put the skills you taught us to good use.  My colleagues who attended and I are excited to share these skills with our school community."
  • "There were a wealth of conversations, some that ventured outside the bounds of everyday pleasantries, which is where our conversations need to be in order to make change. I brought aspects of both back to my own organization as we continue our own journey in the space of diversity and inclusion."
  • "[Your] leadership through the conversation on diversity and inclusion was tremendous. I appreciate so much the work of the center... I'm looking forward to the follow up conversations that you have surely ignited."
This update includes details about upcoming VCIC opportunities, as well as many local and national resources.  Please let us know how VCIC can partner with you.  Contact our office by phone at (804) 515-7950 or by emailing  Jessica Hawthorne  (Director of Programs) or  Marcos Martinez  (Educational Programs Coordinator).

We look forward to working with you!
