From the Desk of the Community Lay Director:

Prayer is very important to us as a community. We are asked to pray for Pilgrims, the walks, and for each other. Remember that when we pray, we are talking and listening to God. I ask you as a community to pray for our up-coming walk and ask God who He thinks you should ask to go on the walk.

The following is a devotional from Bill Graham:

Prayer is a two-way conversation; it is our talking to God, and His talking to us. As a Christian, you have a heavenly Father who hears and answers prayer. Jesus said, “All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” ( Matthew 21:22) Every man or woman whose life has counted for the church and the Kingdom of God has been a person of prayer. You cannot afford to be too busy to pray. A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian. Jesus Christ spent many hours in prayer. Sometimes He spent the night on a mountaintop in solitary communion with God the Father. If He felt that He had to pray, how much more do we need to pray!

If we don’t ask, we will not receive.

Praying with you,

Dave DuBois

PLEASE UPDATE YOUR NEW EMAIL ADDRESSES!
Thank you to everyone who has helped us reconcile some of the bounced email addresses for some of our community members! Anne Wojcik, GIWTE Registrar will be taking us live March 31, 2019 with the new database that the Upper Room Emmaus Staff has created with the IMS developers. This new Community Management System is 100% email driven so that is why we have been trying to reconcile old or out of date email addresses. When our information is moved everyone will receive an email from Ministrymanager@upperroom.org inviting you to join Emmaus. PLEASE DO NOT DELETE this message. Once you have accepted the invitation you will be asked to create a password and you can then log in and update your profile information with your address and phone numbers. If you have recently changed your email address and are not receiving the newsletters or other emails, please email Anne Wojcik with your new email for the new database and also Tammy Langford for the newsletters.

Reflections from the Heart
Easter
I t is often a time when extended family come together. I first introduced my husband to my Michigan family at Easter time. We spent the night at my Grandma’s house in Ludington. We had a snowball fight Easter morning before attending the Lutheran church service with Grandma. Many of my cousins participated in that snowball fight with us. It is a family memory we share that still makes us smile!

A longer-ago Easter memory involves a sunrise service at a Methodist church in Summerville, South Carolina. The church was directly across the street from a graveyard. Being present as the sun came up, and talking about Christ’s resurrection in that peaceful setting left a permanent impression on me.

Have you considered what you can do to make this Easter memorable? What Easter traditions do you enjoy and want to repeat? What Easter traditions need to be let go? Is there someone without local family that you can share your Easter with?

'Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.’
