Contractors continue with the installation of the new sidewalks on both sides of S. Old Woodward as the Old Woodward Reconstruction Project heads toward the finish line.
In addition to the sidewalk work, extensive landscaping work is underway with the installation of the initial batch of the new trees along Maple Rd. More tree installation is anticipated for next week. Meanwhile, crews continue to fill the new planter boxes with organic topsoil, intended to help vegetation grow faster. Further, traffic signal work is now complete while other electrical system work continues.
Weather permitting, it is anticipated that the new sidewalk installation on S. Old Woodward could be completed by late next week.
With the activity level among the various crews at a heightened pitch, the public is reminded to walk within the designated safety walkways and to not move barriers as a way to enhance your mobility. The City urges the public to use common sense when walking to your favorite downtown location or merchant. The City thanks you for your patience as contractors work to bring the project to a close, anticipated to be in early August.

Shoppers/diners still have until July 25th to redeem their BBB's in your establishment.
Birmingham Bonus Bucks must be turned in to the BSD office at City Hall, 151 Martin Street in downtown Birmingham, by August 15, 2018 for reimbursement.
