Join the Fun at Fairfax County's 4-H Fair and Carnival

The 70th Annual Fairfax County 4-H Fair and Carnival is coming to Frying Pan Farm Park on August 2-5, 2018. Please see the flyer for specific times. This year more than ever please consider making a donation to support the 4-H Annual County Fair and Carnival.

Strong financial support from businesses and individuals ensures that this worthy educational and recreational activity remains strong in Fairfax County. Visit the Fair and see the diversity that 4-H activities have to offer. Carnival rides, animals, exhibits, and food will be ready to enjoy.

4-H Fair and Carnival sponsorships range from the $250 Farm Friends to the $5,000 Grand Champion level. Details are included in the 2018 4-H Fair Sponsor Prospectus.

 FCPF welcomes JMU Intern

The Park Foundation is fortunate to have Jenny Burke as our 2018 summer development intern. Jenny is a rising junior at James Madison University and is a Public Policy and Administration major with a minor in Nonprofit Studies.

Jenny is excited to be involved with the Park Foundation and to gain firsthand knowledge of the impacts a nonprofit has on the community as well as its day-to-day operation.

During the summer she will:
  • promote the Summer Entertainment Series
  • help plan the 70th Annual Fairfax County 4-H Fair & Carnival
  • gather data on the commemorative bench and tree programs
  • assist in communication and outreach activities
Your Gifts set Record Support for Parks!

On June 27, 2018, Steve Thormahlen, Fairfax County Park Foundation Board Chair, proudly presented a record breaking check to Ken Quincy, Vice Chair of the Park Authority Board. The $811,803 represents support provided to FCPA in Fiscal Year 2018 from contributions. This money will help to enrich parks and outreach programs.

Vehicle Donations Help YOUR parks

"My wife Judie and I had a car that we're no longer using. We found vehicle donation programs online and chose the Park Foundation. You guys do great things for Fairfax County parks, so we couldn't think of a better place to donate our car!" - Frank, pictured with Judie and their donated vehicle.

A former FCPA employee also donated her used Prius to the Park Foundation.

Donors will  get rid of an unwanted vehicle without the hassle and expense of trying to sell it while benefitting from a tax deduction and the pleasure of supporting Fairfax County's beautiful parks.

Donating is fast and easy and vehicle pick-up is free through our partner CARS (Charitable Rides & Services). We accept cars, trucks, boats and motor homes - even if not in operating condition.

Thanks so much to Frank, Judie and all who contributed a vehicle to the Fairfax County Park Foundation!

Inaugural Women & Golf
On June 13, 2018, Golf Fairfax rolled out the purple carpet for 175 women to grow and celebrate the game of golf at the inaugural Women & Golf Reception at the Laurel Hill Golf Club. Women of all playing levels enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere filled with music, laughs, lessons, and new and old friends.
The day was designed to encourage women to build confidence in their swing, take a lesson, join a league, attend a social event, sign up for a tournament, and create a golf network.
Ladies walked away with a goody bag filled with golf supplies, awesome giveaways donated by sponsors, newfound confidence, and being part of a growing network of women golfers. You may want to take a look at a new Women & Golf webpage to see what new things are being offered for women golfers and a nother event in June 2019.
A special thank you to all the exhibitors and main sponsors, Dominion Wedding Entertainment, Callaway Golf, Teeoff.com and The National Golf Foundation.
